You've probably heard the joke that any USB connector is always plugged in only the third time. Really plugging in a USB or MicroUSB connector with the right side does not always work out right away.
For three years now I have been using cables with reversible connectors that can be plugged in either side, and this is very convenient. Finally found a place to buy them again.
I bought two of my cables in Auchan in 2018 (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/1034769.html). Despite the fact that there is a movable element in the double-sided MicroUSB connector, the cables have not broken in three years, although they are used constantly.
I remembered that those cables were sold under the Liberty Project brand and accidentally stumbled upon a store of this brand in Wilberries, purposefully began to look for two-way cables and found: https://www.wildberries.ru/catalog/4538334/detail.aspx. I bought such a cable for 88 rubles, now it costs 100 rubles, and for some reason the white one is 117 rubles. The most surprising thing is that the brand itself did not bother to mention in the product card and its name that this is not an ordinary cable, but a cable with double-sided connectors. I noticed him only from the photo of the package, where there was a sticker about the connectors.
The cable differs from those that I bought in 2018, first of all, in that it has a long MicroUSB connector (length of the metal part is 8 mm), which will fit any device. In the photo, the double-sided connector of this cable is on top.
The length is exactly 1 meter including connectors, the cable itself is quite thin - 3.2 mm in diameter. Data wires are present.
I measured the voltage drop across the cable at currents of 0.5, 1, and 2 A by connecting the EBD-USB + electronic load to the Huawei HW-050450E01 powerful charger through it.
The charging has compensation for the voltage drop on the cable, so it deliberately increases the output voltage slightly with increasing current (0.5 A - 5.180 V, 1 A - 5.256 V, 2 A - 5.300 V).
At a current of 0.5, 1 and 2 A, the cable dropped 0.24, 0.41 and 0.73 V, respectively.
This is a good result. For comparison, at a current of 2 A, my old cables with double-sided connectors have a voltage drop of 0.89 V, a meter Huawei cable is 0.83 V, the unnamed Chinese thick cable has 1.24 V and only the 80 cm Samsung cable has 0.52 V (with a length of 1 meter it would be 0.65 V).
I ordered a couple more - they will come in handy. Reversible connectors are really very convenient (owners of devices with Type-C and Lightning won't let you lie).
P.S. Aliexpress also has cables with double-sided connectors, but significantly more expensive. For example, here.
