Such a situation in the water supply system of an apartment building can lead to burns, especially children and damage to property, especially of the "white friend".
In the diagram above, I tried to depict the normal operation of the water supply system in an apartment building. That is, heated water comes from the hot water supply drain, and cold water comes from the cold water supply pipe. It is logical.
Then why does it start to go hot instead of cold water? There are several reasons for this:
- Clogged mesh (aerator) of the mixer.
- Defective mixer cartridge
- Incorrect operation of the hygienic shower (bidet)
- The shower switch is set to the middle position (on some mixers)
- "Broken" two-window gasket in a Soviet mixer, type "Herringbone"
It is important to understand that these hot water flows are due to the fact that the pressure in the DHW system is usually higher.
How to understand that the reason for this incident is not yours?
The simplest thing is to look at the operation of water metering devices: If, with the taps closed, the meters continue count the water, namely the hot one winds cubic meters, and the cold one turns in the opposite direction, then the problem is you. If the meters stand still, then the reason is with the neighbors, call "Zheku from ZhEKa". This is their problem. If you want the neighbors not to suffer because of a possible malfunction of your plumbing, then you should install a check valve on the DHW system, at least. Then there will be no problems because of you. In general, it is better to introduce such valves to all residents of your riser.
