It is difficult to imagine a vegetable garden without tomato beds. For this crop, I assign well-lit areas with loose and fertile soil. However, along with traditional colored tomatoes, I like to grow some varieties with yellow or orange fruits. These tomatoes withstand heat treatment well, look beautiful both in jars and in fresh slices. In addition, the brightly colored fruits have a dense skin and a pleasant, juicy pulp without the characteristic sourness.
Honey saved
Bushes of a mid-maturing indeterminate variety reach a height of 1.8-2 m. Weakly leafy, with drooping shoots, the crown needs strong support and tying up the stems. Tomatoes Honey Spas are suitable for cultivation in all types of soil (open, closed). Large, bright yellow heart-shaped fruits have a pleasant sweetish taste, which allows them to be used for making fresh salads, vegetable cuts, sandwiches. From each bush I remove up to 5 kg of tomatoes weighing 250-500 g, which, thanks to their dense skin, are excellently stored and can easily be transported over long distances.
Golden fingers
A mid-early semi-determinant tomato variety forms bushes about 1 m high with a slightly leafy crown that does not need pinching. Small fruits (15-30 g) elongated, plum-shaped, collected in large clusters of 13-15 pieces each. All-purpose tomatoes are colored yellow-orange. The dense and juicy pulp has a sweet taste without the characteristic sourness. I like this high-yielding variety: the drought-resistant plant practically does not form stepchildren. The crop is well kept fresh and suitable for transportation. In addition, Golden Finger tomatoes bear fruit well both in greenhouses and in the open field.
Amber Baltic
Squat shrubs of an early variety form strong, thick trunks with dense leafy shoots. Plants no more than 50 cm in height do not need pinching and tying to a support. I plant tomatoes that are unpretentious in care and resistant to late blight. I use the harvest of rounded fruits weighing about 70-80 g for preserving and preparing vitamin salads. Amber-yellow tomatoes do not lose their taste even after heat treatment. The yield from each bush reaches up to 2.5-3 kg.
Persimmon
Powerful bushes of a determinant variety of medium late ripening reach a height of up to 100 cm. The plant does not need to form a crown, since it branches weakly and practically does not form stepsons. In greenhouse conditions, Persimmon tomatoes yield up to 5 kg per bush, and in open ground this figure will be slightly lower - 3.5-4 kg. Densely leafy stems need support and a garter, since they may not support the weight of large (300-500 g) fruits. These tomatoes have a dense, glossy skin and sweet, juicy flesh. I always try to harvest on time, as overripe persimmon tomatoes lose their taste. I like that these tomatoes do not crack, they are kept fresh for a long time and are perfectly transported.
Ginger F1
A mid-season hybrid forms compact bushes up to 100 cm high, suitable for growing in any type of soil. Smooth, rounded fruits of universal purpose reach a mass of 110-120 g. Bright, orange-yellow tomatoes have firm, juicy flesh with a pleasant sweet taste. The yield of this hybrid is average - about 2.5 kg from each plant. But I love this variety for its unpretentiousness and resistance to fungal infections (late blight, fusarium, cladosporium). The spreading bushes of the Ryzhik F1 hybrid need pinching, pinching the tops and tying to a support.
Growing tomatoes with yellow or orange fruits is no different from growing red or pink tomatoes. A warm and light-loving culture needs standard conditions: soil easily permeable to moisture and oxygen, rich in humus and microelements. In addition, most varieties require crown formation and stems to be tied to a support.
To get a good harvest of yellow-orange tomatoes, you need to monitor the soil: loosen it in time and remove weeds. To facilitate this process, I mulch the soil with humus, compost, or low-moor peat. This layer protects the ground from overheating and reduces moisture evaporation. Instead of chemical fertilizing, I use green weed infusion - a cheap but very effective tool that makes it possible to harvest a generous crop of tomatoes.
