In today's article, I will introduce you to the best pear varieties for the Siberian climate and the conditions for their cultivation.

Choosing varieties

So, if you grow pears in Siberia, you should pay attention to the following varieties:

  • Isetskaya juicy - a variety with excellent cold resistance. The harvest ripens by autumn. Fruits are medium in size, the weight of one can reach 150 grams. Pears have the usual conical shape and color with a slight blush. The pulp of the fruit is very juicy with a pleasant sweet and sour taste.
  • Taiga. In the summer, towards the end of August, golden-colored fruits ripen on medium-sized trees. The fruits receive the highest marks for their dessert flavor and pronounced pear aroma. The main advantage of the variety is its scab resistance.

  • Sibiryachka is a variety that usually bears fruit in the fourth year of life. The greenish-yellow fruits are covered with a matte skin. The juicy pulp has a sweet and sour taste with a spicy hint of astringency. The variety is characterized by increased resistance to low temperatures and good yield. From one tree, you can collect up to 50 kilograms of ripe fruits.
  • Skorospelka Sverdlovskaya is a variety that bears fruit annually and abundantly. Fruits are loved for their versatility. Pears can be eaten fresh, as well as used for the preparation of winter preparations. Early maturation tolerates both frost and dry weather equally well.
  • Perun. The root system of this variety is capable of withstanding negative temperatures up to 26 degrees without shelter. By the beginning of October, elongated fruits with a dense elastic skin and oily pulp ripen on the trees.
  • Lel. The variety is represented by medium-sized trees with a compact crown. Already in August, you can collect fruits that are enviable keeping quality. Ripe amber pears with a slight blush have excellent taste characteristics and a soft firm skin.
  • The pink barrel is a variety that bears fruit from September to October. Quite large fruits can reach 180 grams. The pulp of pears is very juicy and sweet, with a barely noticeable sourness.

Features of growing pears in Siberia

For trees to be healthy and give a good harvest, it is important to adhere to some rules:

  • For planting, it is favorable to choose places in the immediate vicinity of outbuildings or houses, so the trees will be protected from drafts, strong gusts of wind and snow. If you are growing your pear in an open area, winter shelter is worth considering. I use agrofibre for these purposes.
  • It is better to plant a crop in the autumn. To strengthen the root system of seedlings, they should be kept in a superphosphate solution before planting.
  • Remember to prune after planting.
  • It is desirable that different varieties be planted on the site. This is necessary for the pollination process, and, accordingly, for a good yield.
  • If your site is quite compact, you should give preference to columnar types of pears.
  • Pears can often turn black and crack. This means that a scab has hit the pear, and you need to take action as soon as possible. In the early stages of the disease, treatments with Bordeaux liquid show a good effect. If the disease progresses, more serious preparations of the fungicidal group will be required. By the way, Taezhnaya and Perun are considered one of the most scab-resistant varieties.
