Greetings, dear professionals and amateur self-builders!
Today, I would like to touch on the topic of electrical installation. In his house with a total area of 130 sq.m. I assembled the entire power supply system with my own hands, I will not say that it was too difficult, but it gave me a lot of trouble, because I did everything without helpers. I managed the entire volume of work in more than two weeks ...
So, now I regret a little that when installing my electrician, I fastened electrical cables and wires to my favorite dowel-clamps at that time. I wouldn't buy a pack now!
There were times when I needed to get 3 or 4 power cables under one clamp, but there were no adjustable clamps at hand. So, it is unrealistic to fix the bundle of wires with an ordinary dowel-clamp, it simply will not hold in the hole:
And adjustable dowel-clamps are not sold in all stores, unlike ordinary ones. For example, in order for me to buy them, I have to spend a couple of hours: drive several tens of kilometers to the nearest large hardware store.
Recently, a familiar installer of low-current networks showed me an excellent way of attaching wires any diameter to the walls and to the ceiling using the usual nylon ties that are sold on each corner:
As in the case of conventional dowel clamps, a hole is drilled. But, here it is better to take a drill of a smaller diameter, for example f4 or f5. F4 would be better.
Then, the clamp is bent. The length from the bend to the ear of the clamp should be slightly more than the depth of the hole:
Next, the clamp is inserted into the hole, followed by screwing in the self-tapping screw.
I use short self-tapping screws 15-20 mm, they are screwed in very quickly with a screwdriver in just 2-3 turns.
Ready! Now, here you can fix a power cable of any diameter, this mount holds very securely. You can even secure a bundle of wires!
This method has a huge advantage in that you do not need to drill many holes in order to fix several adjacent cables with dowel-clamps, but you only need to use one cable tie!
Secondly, the electric cable can be pulled tighter, minimizing the sagging along the ceiling, since the tie straightens the cable more tightly and prevents it from slipping inside.
Thirdly, there is no need to buy separate clips for attaching the corrugation. In this way, even the corrugation is attached to the walls.
I usually try to compare everything by 4 criteria:
- The degree of reliability;
- Price;
- Safety;
- Practicality.
The reliability and safety of nylon ties and dowel-clamps are equal, but the price is slightly lower, even with small screws, but practicality is several times higher!
Therefore, lately I have been buying exclusively screeds, and small screws to them.
