They say that every job has three tremendous advantages: Friday, salary and vacation! Do you know why New Year's holidays are not included here? Because since mid-December, the entire salary is scattered into all sorts of trinkets and gifts to acquaintances, friends, grandfathers, grandmothers, children, grandchildren... the list can be continued for a long time :-) And, of course, in conclusion - you also need to buy a Christmas tree for the house! But what about without the symbol of the New Year !?
Three weeks before the holiday, and we already sell pine needles on every corner! I am not a supporter of artificial trees, so I already ran through the Christmas tree bazaars and scouted the situation... I love when the smell of pine needles fills the whole house, the New Year's atmosphere is immediately felt! But, this time I decided not to buy a felled pine tree, but took a look at the trees, which are sold together with the root in pots and buckets, after all, the sellers as one assure that such trees can easily be transplanted into the ground on the site, then the money will not be wasted in vain !!!
Now there are not many buyers, word for word, and for about 20 minutes we have been scratching our tongues with the seller. The fact is that the price of conifers in pots with my height from 4,000 to 40,000 rubles, I don't want to waste money at all.
The implementer was very chatty, I didn't even have to strain, he himself told me all the pitfalls. In fact, our naivety plays into the hands of these clever merchants who are convincing that these Christmas trees can be transplanted into the ground on our plots. The problem is that 90% of this market is not our trees at all, but Danish firs, similar to Christmas trees, and Serbian spruce Omorika, which absolutely do not tolerate our frosts, therefore, they will not even live a year in earth.
And if you saw the tag “Picea abies", Which is tied to the trunk, then this is our Russian beauty - common spruce, which grows mainly in central Russia.
Tags are not often hung, so this is how it looks:
... and the rest of the lush "foreign" options do not even need to look.
So, if you found such a Christmas tree, then it's too early to rejoice here. If you take it by the trunk and loosen it, you will see how it rises and crawls out of the ground a little! This means one thing - they chopped off the main root going down, leaving only the side ones, and stuck it on a month in the ground, one can say specifically for sale, because it is better to sell a spruce in a pot than a felled tree! Navar will be bigger!
But, if you are lucky enough to find a good spruce, which was transplanted into a pot with roots and with "your" soil, then be careful here too... It cannot be brought into the house and placed in a warm room, especially near heating devices, which means for the celebration of the New Year.admit it is forbidden!
This I have not heard from any seller, but do you know why? Because nobody will buy this tree! It is impossible to start sap flow and so that the buds swell in the middle of winter - the spruce will die during transplantation.
In fact, the spruce is very capricious, for many gardeners, Christmas trees dug in the neighboring forest, even with a large supply of land, take root on the site only after 3 years, but what about the pot? Secondly, we do not even know the orientation of the tree to the cardinal points, and this is very important for conifers. Which branches of the tree were directed to the south, so you need to plant it, otherwise all the work will be in vain. From a change in orientation, the tree immediately dries up, because it does not have time to rebuild the sap flow.
Outcome
To summarize, we can say that the "pot" options are essentially the same felled spruce, only 2 times more expensive. Therefore, friends, you should not waste your money, but it is better to take a good spruce in the nursery in the spring and plant it on the site!
Honestly, I was a little upset, because I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. But on the other hand, I learned something that can not be heard from everyone!
I hope the article will be useful to you before the upcoming holidays.
Thanks!
