I try to decorate my infield with a variety of colors. For some time now he has been carried away with breeding biennials. They grow in the flower garden for two seasons and enliven the garden with their magnificent views at a time when there is a break between the flowering of spring bulbs and annuals.
Amazing biennials
There are flowers grown as biennials that can actually grow over the course of several years. After two years of life, they do not have such abundant flowering, and sometimes plants die in winter.
And now I will tell you which biennials I use for planting in my flower bed.
Pansies
These flowers grow in groups. Their height is no more than 30 cm. The flower consists of five petals, there are many shades in the color. They can be two- or three-color, as well as one-color, with an eye. Violets bloom from May to late summer.
Pansies take root well if transplanted even during flowering.
Turkish carnation
In general, this plant is perennial, but it is grown as a biennial. Usually I sow carnation seeds until June 10, and in August the culture is already ready for transplanting to a flower bed.
It is necessary that the carnation has time to get stronger after disembarkation - in this case, it will better endure the winter season.
Next year, in June, the plant will be able to become covered with globular flowers. It spreads by self-sowing, flowering continues for two to three weeks.
Matron's party
The flower is perennial, in the third year it has a weak flowering. The plant is cold-resistant, the inflorescences are cylindrical, the flowers consist of four petals.
It reproduces by self-seeding, it is necessary to regulate this process.
Bell middle
The colors of the flowers are varied: blue, purple, pink and white. Sowing seeds is carried out in June-July, planted on a flower bed in August.
The bell grows on drained soil in sunny places, does not tolerate waterlogging.
Lunaria
The plant decorates the area with purple-red flowers and looks good when decorating a dry bouquet.
Seedlings require care: watering, loosening the soil and thinning the plantings. The reviving moonwalker loves light, loose soil. For the winter, a flower needs shelter.
Siberian poppy
The culture has large flowers of yellow, white, pink and orange colors. For long-lasting flowering, break off the seed pods.
Poppy does not tolerate transplanting, so the seeds must be sown immediately in the flower bed.
Mallow
One peduncle of a plant contains up to 90 pieces of flowers with a diameter of about 8-10 cm.
Mallow blooms luxuriantly if planted on loamy or sandy loam soil, as well as fed with compost or humus.
Perennial daisy
Daisies start to delight with their long flowering from the beginning of May. They need to be often watered and fed with mineral fertilizers, in which case the plants can bloom profusely both in the shade and in a sunny area.
Forget-me-not hybrid
The beauty of small spherical bushes is simply pleasing to the eye. There are varieties not only with blue flowers, but also with snow-white and pinkish ones. Reproduction occurs by self-seeding.
Foxglove purple
The flowering of a pretty culture occurs from July to September. Seeds are sown in the ground in June-July, in August they are planted in places.
Foxglove is completely poisonous and cannot be grown in an area where small children are.
When cutting off the faded stems, new peduncles are formed again.
These are not all plants you can plant in summer. But planting and cultivating biennials will give any florist great pleasure. Since you will not notice the result of your labor immediately, but only in the next year, it means that there remains a little intrigue, turning into moments of joy of contemplating charming blooming cultures.
