The issue of storing things in a one-room apartment is quite acute. The lack of square meters does not always allow to allocate space for an isolated dressing room. However, it is possible to organize convenient storage even in a small area.

How to do it, the designer told Asia Orlova.

Wardrobe in the hallway

A wardrobe in the hallway is a must have for a small apartment. Better if it is built-in, from floor to ceiling. This makes even a large storage system look less bulky.

The door opening mechanism can be any, but you need to take into account that the guides for the compartment will take about 8 cm, so if you want to save space, you should choose simple swing doors. To visually increase the space, you can make the facades mirrored.

Storage around the bed

The storage system can be built around a sleeping place - a bed or a sofa. To do this, it is enough to put a couple of shelves or cabinets on the sides, and in the gap at the top, hang shelves or hanging boxes. Most often, this technique is implemented with a bed.

The headboard appears to be recessed in a niche. And so that the cabinets do not give themselves out, you can paint the facades to match the walls and replace the handles with a push mechanism.

Storage around the door

Likewise, a storage system can frame a doorway. This solution is best suited for narrow elongated rooms in the form of a trailer with a passage in a small wall, where the arrangement of cabinets along long walls is undesirable.

And the "wardrobe around the door" will square the room and give it a more regular shape.

Loggia

If there is no room in the rooms, a balcony or loggia can come to the rescue. To prevent them from turning into an unsightly storage room, storage must be organized. Plan a built-in closet at the end, or purchase a vanity unit with a fold-down seat to create a seating area as well.

To save space, bicycles and other sports equipment can be stored under the ceiling. For bicycles, roller systems are better suited, they work on the principle of a winch and are considered the most convenient. Skis or snowboards can simply be placed on open shelves or on the ceiling mezzanine.

Under the windowsill

The space under the windowsill can also be helpful. Built-in cabinets or drawers will help you use it rationally. Before planning a storage system, consider the location of the heatsink.

One of the simplest options is to close the part with the battery with a screen, and place open sections or built-in cabinets on the sides.

Podium

If the height of the room allows, then you can increase the amount of storage space using a podium with roll-out drawers. The higher the podium, the more things will fit.

You can even equip an entire dressing room with shelves and rods inside. But for this, the upper part of the bed will have to be equipped with a lifting mechanism.

Niches

Niches are best for organizing storage. To save money, you don't even need to spend money on a built-in wardrobe, but simply install an open system and supplement it with a curtain. Small niches can also be used - just fit inside rows of shelves.
