Aerated concrete has long become one of the most popular materials in construction and has not lost its relevance for several decades. Unfortunately, over the past year there has been a sharp jump in prices for building materials. Nevertheless, the cost of building houses from aerated concrete still remains below the cost of frame houses. Therefore, this material continues to be actively used.

Aerated concrete has a number of disadvantages. For example, gas block houses are very cold, especially if they are built in the northern regions. It is possible to increase the thermal efficiency of walls by erecting them in several blocks, but at a price it comes out much more expensive. Moreover, this option is impractical. Therefore, they resort to using heaters. Often they use expanded polystyrene or mineral wool.

However, the price tag for these heaters also went up a lot. In addition, the materials need to be protected. Mineral wool does not tolerate dampness, polystyrene foam heats up strongly in the summer, and it is also unable to pass moisture that accumulates on the walls.

There is an effective method that few people know about. Only experienced builders use it regularly. I'm talking about sawdust concrete insulation (it is found in the form of panels and blocks). You can make such material with your own hands, spending a minimum of money. It turns out a very practical, durable and effective insulation.

In Russia, sawdust concrete is often used for low-rise buildings. Only for its manufacture, instead of sawdust, they take chips. Hence the name of the building material - wood concrete or woodchip. In such arrays, large chips act as reinforcement, it makes blocks or slabs rigid. When it is necessary to obtain light, thin, small-sized panels and blocks, sawdust is used. They are much easier to reach than wood chips. This is their main advantage.

Sawdust also has good thermal insulation properties, which distinguishes them favorably from shavings and wood chips. This is the main argument in favor of sawdust.

To make thermal panels with your own hands, you need to take lime, sand, cement and, of course, sawdust. Here is a small list of the constituent components. Due to the presence of sawdust, the panels will retain heat, cement will provide them with strength, sand will protect them from cracking, and lime will act as an antiseptic.

The proportions of the components are as follows:

  • most of the sawdust - about 80%;
  • cement - 10%;
  • sand - 7%;
  • lime - the remaining 3%.
If these proportions are observed, it will be possible to make an excellent insulation that has all the necessary properties. In addition, sawdust concrete will protect the walls from adverse external factors. From above, the insulation can be covered with plaster.

It is noteworthy that it does not need frequent priming. It turns out to be cheap and very effective!
