A rose is a real decoration of any personal plot or garden. With proper care, it can grow and bloom for 10-15 years in one place. In order for the flowering to be abundant and continuous throughout the warm season, it is worth knowing the basic rules of care in the summer months. I will talk about this later in the article.

Summer rose care

Taking care of your rose garden will not give you much of a hassle. However, in each summer month, the plant requires certain manipulations.

June chores

It is in this month that the active process of budding begins, so it is important to feed the garden beauties in a timely manner:

  1. In the first week of June, apply nitrogen fertilizers under the bush in the form of a solution based on cow dung or chicken manure (diluted 1: 1 with water). You can also use an infusion of young herbs: nettle, plantain, dandelion. In addition to nitrogen, the infusion contains potassium. Both elements help the plant grow green mass and form buds. Before fertilizing, be sure to water the bush with plain water.

  2. In the second week, I do foliar feeding. For her, I am preparing a herbal solution with the addition of a growth stimulant, for example, "Zircon" or "Radifarm". I feed it by spraying the plants. I do this only in the morning or evening hours to prevent the negative effects of the sun on wet foliage.

If organic fertilizers were not applied in May, then this must be done before June 20. Horse manure is best suited as an organic matter for roses.

Also, in the first summer month, I carry out pruning, if necessary. I do this if, during the inspection, I find dry branches and those on which buds are not forming.

In June, I water the roses only with settled and warm water. Even in hot weather, watering is carried out no more than once a week. But at the same time I water abundantly. During watering, you need to try not to get water on the leaves, so as not to provoke the appearance of rot.

Leaving in July

After the first wave of flowering in July, I remove the buds together with the peduncle. Thanks to this, plants will be able to form new peduncles and again please with their flowering.

For better stimulation of the second wave, in the first days of July, I feed the bushes with nitrogen-containing fertilizers. Herbal infusions can be used.

At this time, I continue to water the bushes abundantly once a week. Also, every 2 weeks I also spray them with preparations for the prevention of pests.

Leaving in August

At the end of summer, care is aimed at preparing the culture for the winter period. In August, the plants gradually begin to move into a dormant stage. The florist's task is to slow down the growing processes.

At this time, special attention should be paid to the prevention of diseases. In August, roses are often sick with powdery mildew. To prevent this, you need to carefully weed the soil around the bushes, mulch them with humus. If there is no mulch, it is necessary to loosen the ground after watering and rains.

I reduce the frequency of watering in August. I water only if the ground is very dry.

From fertilizers in this month I bring in only phosphorus and potassium. These substances will strengthen the rose, accelerate the lignification of the shoots. Thanks to this plant, it will be easier to survive the winter.

At the end of August, I remove all unripe branches. They will not withstand the winter frost, but they will take nutrients from the bush.

With constant care and a competent approach, roses respond with gratitude and abundant flowering. This culture is not so whimsical. When growing it, it is enough to follow the basic rules of care.
