First of all, fertilizing with vitriol is needed for soils where sand, clay and peat predominate. Copper sulfate shows effectiveness in the fight against powdery mildew, scab, mycosis, brown or white spot.

Preparation of funds

The agent is diluted in an amount of 5 g per liter of water. This is a high concentration, which is only suitable for the renovation of old grapes in the fall. For spring treatments, you need to take 10 g of vitriol per liter of water.

To prepare the preparation, glass, non-oxidizing dishes are used. Plastic and iron can react with vitriol.

The drug is not used in hot and dry weather, otherwise the vine can be severely burned. Copper sulfate is effectively applied with finely dispersed drops sprayed on the affected parts of the vine. For this purpose, use a container with a spray.

If you need to remove the fungus and cure the disease, then about one and a half liters of the product are sprayed on each large grape shoot. A bush requires up to five liters of a 3% solution. If you don't have a sprayer on hand, you can spray the vine with a short twig whisk. It is not recommended to use a watering can.

When root top dressing, the soil under the bush must be isolated from possible contact with the chemical. The soil is lined with a film, which is then removed.

Spray first the upper part of the bush, then move on to the lower tiers. The sprayer is kept at a distance of about 20 cm from the bush.

Autumn and spring spraying

It is carried out after the leaves have been shed. In the southern regions in the last days of November, in the middle zone of the country - in the third decade of October.

First, the vine must be examined and dry, affected areas removed. Bare branches are tied in bunches. Each bunch is sprayed with 5% copper sulfate.

Processing should be carried out in early spring, until the buds have blossomed. At this time, sanitary actions are most effective. The preferred air temperature is from 5 degrees Celsius.

The branches must be lifted above the ground. They are attached to the trellis during processing. In this state, the vine should remain for three days. A 3% solution of vitriol is used.

The procedure is carried out as usual - from top to bottom.

Safety requirements

When working with copper sulfate, it is important to take care of the protection of your eyes, feet and hands. It is always necessary to wear gloves on your hands, preferably rubberized or nitrile gloves.

In the warm season, it is better to choose early evening or morning for spraying. If the solution is washed off by rain, then the treatment is carried out after four weeks.
