Almost in front of every old country or country house there is a small garden, which is usually called a front garden. Most often, the owners break bright flower beds there, less often shrubs and trees are planted. At the same time, the front garden is fenced off with a low wooden fence. Why is such a kindergarten needed at all, and does it have some kind of utilitarian purpose other than a purely aesthetic one?

By far the most obvious and simple reason for creating a front garden around your home. It is always pleasant when numerous plants grow near your home. Especially if these are flowers or flowering shrubs. Looks nice, smells nice. For the sake of these things alone, it is worth thinking about creating a front garden next to your summer cottage, if for some reason there is still no such. At the same time, it is worth remembering that it is still better not to plant trees in the front garden. Too close to home.

Some people have an overly curious disposition, a long nose and a keen eye. Under normal conditions, almost all of the above is good. But not when it comes to the private life of another person. Front gardens with tall plants were made, among other things, so that in the spring-summer period what was happening in the windows of the house could not be seen so well. This is especially true when windows are opened in the house for plowing.

3. To keep the house cooler

Some argue that front gardens appeared in the domestic open spaces mainly when glass appeared. At first, only the wealthiest people could afford the latter. Glazed windows have significantly changed the architecture of the village houses. First of all, they (windows) have become noticeably larger. The number of windows has also increased, including on the front facade of the building.

So there is an opinion that the appearance of the first front gardens was associated with the need for better cooling of the house. The trees and shrubs that were planted cast a shade that kept it cool during the hottest time of the year.
