I don’t know about you, but I didn’t realize before that plastic windows should be switched to “winter” mode with the onset of frost. It turns out that they have a special mechanism that switches window modes. Are you surprised? Then I'll tell you more.
First of all, I advise you to see if the rubber bands are tightly pressed against the frame when the window is closed. It's easy to do! Let's get started.
We adjust plastic windows
- We need an ordinary sheet of paper.
- Open the window, insert a sheet between the sash and the frame.
- We close the window.
- Now pull the sheet and see if you can pull it out. If so, the gap between the frame and the sash of your window is quite large. This means that this moment needs to be adjusted. It is necessary to make sure that the seal is pressed against the frame as much as possible.
- Open the window again, find the mechanism shown in the photo below, and carefully examine it. See it's not symmetrical?
- When installers install plastic windows, they put these mechanisms in a neutral position.
- To adjust the mechanisms, arm yourself with pliers or a wrench. Rotation away from the seal will increase the gap. It turns out that the window will be in "summer mode".
If you rotate the mechanism to the sealing gum, then the gap will decrease. Those. from "summer mode" you switch to "winter".
There are also similar mechanisms that can be adjusted on the hinge side.
There are windows with such fittings, which are shown in the photo below. To adjust it, you need to take a special wrench or a 4 mm hexagon.
This secret was shared with me by an acquaintance who has been working for a company for the installation of plastic windows for several years. The life hack has already come in handy for me.
I want to say that the concept of "winter" and "summer" mode was invented by the installers themselves. It does not officially exist. And the regulators on the windows are needed for periodic adjustments. During long-term operation, the window settings go astray, so they need to be adjusted.
