The revolvers used a double action trigger and fired 7.62x38 mm Nagant cartridges. The optimal firing range was 50 meters. In later modifications of the revolver, the cartridges in the drum were not 6, but 7.

The fact is that even before the appearance of the 1886 model, the Belgian army wanted two modifications of the revolver: for the highest ranks of the army and for the lower ranks of the army. The revolver for the junior command and service personnel of the army had purposefully deteriorated combat characteristics for by installing a special part, which excluded the possibility of independent (automatic) cocking of the hammer after shot. This was done to artificially lower the rate of fire in order to save ammunition. It was not possible to shoot so quickly from it.
