Tsatska: what is the first " smart" Kalashnikov rifle

It is no longer enough for the modern shooting enthusiast to simply pick up and hit a target. I just want to attach more accessories to the barrel, from an optical sight to a flashlight. It would also be nice to be able to shoot real-time first person shots! All these (and some others) desires of shooters are fully capable of satisfying the first "smart" rifle from the Kalashnikov concern.

The Kalashnikov's 12-gauge MP-155 Ultima makes a serious impression on even an experienced shooter. The name of the new item directly indicates that the MP-155 rifle, which has been produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant since 2011, was taken as a basis. The brand new Ultima was first shown at the Army Forum in 2020. And not so long ago, on August 23, 2021, the Kalashnikov concern opened a pre-order for a wonder weapon. The gun costs 130 thousand Russian rubles.

For this money, the shooter receives a weapon that fires with cartridges 12/76. The power supply functions according to the 1 + 6 principle. Already from the factory, the Kalashnikov rifle has been adapted for left-handed shooters. Most of the attachments are made of high quality polymer and can be removed. In addition, the customer can customize the appearance of the Ultima in a special workshop. The butt can be removed without much difficulty and replaced with a handle. This makes the gun noticeably shorter.

The Ultima stock is an extremely interesting contraption. It contains a battery and a microcomputer, which are needed to record shooting statistics, as well as video recording of what is happening in the first person. Numerous pads allow you to install any tactical accessories and sights on the Kalashnikov's creation. The Picatinny rail has attachments on both sides as well as on the top.

At its core, the MP-155 Ultima is a fusion of tried and tested old weapons with modern design and technology. The weapon is intended primarily for sports shooting and hunting enthusiasts. It is quite obvious that the directly exotic appearance is an attempt by the Kalashnikov to flirt, including with the younger generation of shooters. Only time will tell how popular the new product will be.
