When growing vegetables, I use a wide range of fertilizers. Among them, I highlight only a few basic ones that I consider mandatory. One of these top dressings is potassium humate. This drug is especially good for the development of tomatoes.

What is potassium humate

The fertilizer is based on potassium humate, and each manufacturer also introduces a number of microelements into the composition, the list of which may vary.

It is the presence of humic acids that distinguishes potassium humate from other fertilizers. These elements have a great effect on the development of microflora in open ground and in pots at the seedling stage.

Humic acids directly influence the balanced development of plants. I especially noticed this effect on tomatoes. Agronomists advise actively using potassium humate on all nightshade crops.

How do I apply potassium humate on tomatoes

I'm starting to use it from seeds. I add 20 ml of the concentrate to a container with a volume of about 250 ml and soak the seeds in this solution for a day.

The solution fills future sprouts with energy. In addition, many manufacturers include elements with a disinfectant property in the concentrate.

At the seedling stage, I introduce potassium humate as an energy mixture along with other components. As a catalyst, it enhances the positive effects of all other fertilizers. It has a positive effect on the development of a powerful root system. The aerial part is formed squat and strong.

In the future, I am not fond of using potassium humate. I use this top dressing no more than three times per season. I always follow the dosage. I dilute 50 ml of the drug in a bucket of water and water the tomatoes already planted in the greenhouse under the root.

This drug has a good effect on taste, so I start using it before fruit setting.

I usually water under the root. If you need a quick effect, then I spray it on the sheet, making a solution with a half dose.

What drugs do I use

Potassium humate is produced by many manufacturers. Preparations differ in composition and concentration. When preparing the mixture, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. In my experience, I have tried several popular options.

Powder "Humate + 7" additionally contains seven important trace elements. It is often mixed with nitrogen fertilizers to form a complete plant nutrition. I also use "Humate + 7 Iodine" - a variation of the previous preparation, which is especially effective when soaking seeds. One package is enough for me for a long time, because the dosage is only 10 g per 100 liters.

The drug "Gumatem" I often bring in during the autumn digging of the soil. It fills the soil not only with useful acids, but also with microorganisms.

When growing tomatoes, I consider the use of potassium humate to be mandatory. This drug is not just a fertilizer. Potassium humate stimulates the development of a healthy soil climate. For the greenhouse in which I grow tomatoes, this is especially important.
