There are many mysteries of nature in the world that arouse interest and a lot of speculation. But if you look, then all of them can be easily explained, well, or almost all. One of these mysteries that excite the imagination is Thor's Well. It is located in Oregon, US state. He became famous primarily due to many unusual photographs, which depict a large funnel into which Pacific waters pour. What is this phenomenon and is it really so mysterious?
By the way, a large fountain often beats out of the funnel. This phenomenon also does not look quite usual, and most importantly, it is very beautiful. But it is also easy to explain from the point of view of science.
A large number of written materials, articles only arouse more interest in people, but do not reveal the secret of the funnel. In this regard, as soon as it is not called, even "the gate to the underworld." Reality, in principle, is of no particular interest to anyone. The legend that tells about the god Thor is enough for people. It was he who, according to legend, made the blood of a young man whom his beloved killed with fiery lava. And she burned a hole in the ground, which led to the formation of a funnel.
If you believe the legend, then the "Thor's Well" symbolizes love and testifies to how terrible a force jealousy can become.
What is it
In fact, the hole is no more than five meters in diameter. As for the depth, they often write that no one has been able to measure it. Naturally, everyone assumes that there is no bottom in it at all, and there are underground channels or something similar below, where the water goes.
There was such an assumption due to the fact that it is rather dangerous to approach the edge of the hole, but it can be done at the time of low tide. The coast here is rocky, the stones are too sharp, and the waves are unpredictable. There is always water in the funnel, therefore, approaching it as close as possible to the bottom is unlikely to see.

But in rare cases, you can see the bottom, because the distance to it is small - about 6 meters. In fact, this hole is the entrance to one of the caves from above. It turns out that there is nothing strange or unusual here at all. The secret of Thor's Well, which made him famous all over the world, is not so mystical. The fact is that another one leads into the cave, now the lower entrance.
Through it, water enters the well during high tide. If the waves are very large, then a fountain appears. Water beats against the walls of the cave and splashes fly.
The fountain rises not so high, a maximum of six meters. Water, flowing into the funnel, returns to the ocean through the entrance from below. Therefore, there is a feeling that there is no bottom for the "Thor's Well". In fact, the effect of a broken jug appears - no matter how much liquid is poured into it, it will not be possible to fill it.
