DIY polymer clay with just 3 ingredients. Strong, does not crack, easy to manufacture

Hello dear friends!

Today I will share with you a proven and simple recipe for homemade polymer clay, which is not inferior in quality to the store. We have been using this recipe for more than 3 years, it has never failed.

This is not cold porcelain, which is sometimes difficult to make correctly, which cracks and does not always work out. This recipe is outrageously simple and cheap.

Here are the ingredients you need:

  • Any polymer adhesive such as "Titan", etc.,
  • Corn or potato starch;
  • Any vegetable oil.
I calculated according to the prices of our market and it turned out that the cost of 1 kg of such clay is 250-300 rubles. You may get a different amount. This is how much clay costs in the store for 100 grams. The benefit is obvious!

The clay is self-hardening, no need to bake. Complete drying occurs in 1-3 days, depending on the thickness of the product, ambient temperature.

Polymer glue is a transparent liquid with a pungent odor. This glue used to glue foam tiles to the ceiling, etc.

A few pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Very cheap at cost;
  • Very strong after drying;
  • Does not crack when dried;
  • It is very convenient to work with him;
  • Can be cooked in 10 minutes;
  • Easily processed after drying;

Minuses:

  • afraid of water;
  • Stinks when kneading.
So when kneading in a room, it is better to ensure good ventilation. After the clay is completely ready, there is almost no pungent smell.

Step 1.

I pour 3-4 tablespoons of starch, made a hole and poured glue on the "eye". There are no proportions, since the density of the glue is often different, and the amount of starch is always different.

Step 2

Started kneading like dough. Only with the difference that the starch should be mixed into the glue in small portions, otherwise the mass will turn out to be too dry and will go in flakes.

I recommend that you use gloves. I already have experience, I learned how to knead the mass so that the glue does not get on my hands. Hands get dirty only with starch.

Step 3

After the mass has ceased to stick to my hands, I put it in a bag for 5-7 minutes so that the starch is well saturated with glue.

Step 4

After 5 minutes, I take out the mass from the bag and add oil. There are also no proportions. There is never too much oil, it will not spoil the mass.

Once again I knead the mass well and that's it, the clay is ready for use. When you work, do not forget to remove excess clay in a bag so that it does not wind. If it starts to dry out a little, add more oil, mix and it will become soft and plastic again.

Now you can use the mass as you like. Mold into molds, sculpt.

The texture is transferred perfectly, even the smallest details are perfectly imprinted.

Clay can be glued directly in its raw form to PVA glue or the same polymer. The raw mass is conveniently glued to curved surfaces.

There is no doubt that the oil will somehow affect the quality of bonding, for 3 years of work with the mass, nothing has fallen off.

When the clay dries, it can be processed with a knife, sandpaper, drill, saw.

You can add color to the raw mass. Also dried parts can be painted ANY paints. After drying THERE IS NO SIGNATURE OF THE OIL.

Here are some of our examples of using such polymer clay:

The mass does not become brittle over time and there is no rancid smell. In general, I gave you a wonderful recipe, tested not only by us, but also by dozens of other people, and whether you use it or not is up to you.
