The appearance of yellow leaves on flowers is an alarming bell for flower growers, if the autumn leaf fall is not to blame. And for owners of fragile beauties of roses, yellowing of foliage is always a cause for concern. Why do rose bushes turn yellow, how can rosary diseases be prevented, and do the agrotechnical conditions for growing roses affect the quality of foliage? Let's figure it out.
Is disease always to blame?
Premature yellowing of foliage is usually attributed to diseases and harmful beetles. Is it always fair? Often, mistakes in caring for a plant can cause trouble for a flower. Pink leaves may turn yellow for a number of reasons:
- hot dry weather, in which the sun burns the foliage or sudden changes in temperature;
- errors in watering: a lack of moisture leads to a drop in immunity and drying of the leaves, and an excess of water provokes rotting of the roots and yellowness on the leaf plates;
- use for irrigation of cold chlorinated water;
- unsuitable for the climatic zone plant variety;
- thickening of the bush and frequent planting, as well as planting a flower in a shaded area or near groundwater
Micronutrient deficiency
Roses need regular feeding with complex fertilizers and organic matter. Depleted soils are not able to provide a powerful plant with the necessary nutrition, as a result of which the leaves turn yellow and fall off. A similar reaction of a rose bush indicates a lack of trace elements such as:
- nitrogen - the main assistant in the growth of green mass;
- potassium - responsible for the color and growth of shoots;
- phosphorus - rose immunity support;
- manganese - a necessary element for the formation of buds.
Timely application of complex mineral compositions will prevent undesirable consequences in the form of yellow foliage on the flower. And the alternation of organic matter and mineral fertilizers will provide the rose with proper nutrition.
Insects
Insect pests can also be the cause of yellowing of foliage in roses. The spider mite is capable of infecting entire flower beds. In addition to it, the danger is created by such parasites as:
- thrips;
- aphid;
- pink cicada.
Treat rose bushes at least three times per season:
- in early spring before bud formation;
- in summer during the appearance of buds;
- autumn, preparing the bushes for wintering.
Excellent in the fight against insects will help copper sulfate, Bordeaux liquid, as well as folk remedies and other chemicals.
Rosa got sick
Having excluded all subjective causes of yellowing of the foliage of a rose bush, having analyzed your mistakes in care, having carefully examined the plants, we can assume the presence of a disease. Yellow rose leaves are the main symptoms of the following diseases:
- rust
The leaves turn yellow, brown specks appear on the inside.
- black spot
Black blurry spots appear on the yellowing leaf plate.
- powdery mildew
A gray-white coating on buds and leaves eventually leads to twisting, yellowing and death of the living tissues of the flower.
Prevention
The best way to combat the yellowing of the green mass of roses, I think:
- timely processing;
- sufficient and reasonable watering;
- regular inspection of the plant;
- compliance with agricultural technology for growing a flower.
I plant my roses exclusively in the most privileged areas of the garden: bright, warm, fertile, protected from wind and drafts. I carefully select varieties based on the climatic and weather conditions of my region. I provide flowers with proper care in each growing season. In gratitude for this, the foliage of my roses is green and healthy, and the flowers are lush and fragrant.
