The Kalashnikov assault rifle is one of the most outstanding weapons developments of the 20th century. At the same time, not every person realizes that the legendary machine gun has become the basis for a large number of other types of weapons. One of these is the Saiga-12 self-loading carbine.
The production of "Saiga-12" is carried out by the main weapons company in Russia - the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant. A self-loading carbine has been produced, made on the basis of the Kalashnikov assault rifle since 1997. Saiga is still being produced and used. The weapon is intended for both commercial and amateur hunting for medium-sized animals and birds. The carbine is suitable for hunting in any natural conditions.

Ammunition is carried out from box magazines for 2, 4, 5 or 8 rounds. When shooting at a target, the Saiga-12 shows an accuracy of 750 mm at a shot distance of 35 meters. To date, four main modifications of a self-loading carbine are produced on the domestic market. The Saiga is used not only as a hunting weapon. In Ukraine, it is in service with the navy, in Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan and some US states, it is used as a police weapon.
