What conditions are needed for indoor roses?
Roses are very capricious and sensitive to the microclimate, therefore, for successful cultivation, a number of conditions will have to be provided:
- The temperature in the warm season should be in the range from 20 to 25 degrees, closer to winter these figures should be reduced and be in the range from 10 to 17 degrees.
- The minimum comfortable humidity for a rose is at least 75%. If the air in the room is dry, the leaves and shoots are sluggish, the plant is at risk of developing various diseases. Never place flower pots near heating appliances. Dry hot air is detrimental to plants.
- The rose is a light-loving flower, so it is preferable to place the plant on the south side of the apartment. However, it is better to protect the rose from scorching direct sunlight in the daytime.
- It is important to avoid sudden temperature fluctuations. If you need to move the plant to a room with a different temperature regime or send it for the winter, you need to take into account the getting used to it. To do this, place the plant in new conditions, first for 30 minutes, and then gradually increase the residence time.
- Avoid drafts that can kill a tender plant. This also applies to cold air from air conditioners.
Choosing a container and substrate
A healthy and strong plant can only be grown in a suitable pot. You should not immediately acquire a large capacity, because this will violate the correct formation of the root system. In this case, flowering should not be expected.
If you purchased the plant from a garden center, you need to transplant it into a pot that will be 200 ml larger than the previous one.
The material of the pot is equally important. It is worth giving preference to clay or ceramics. Such materials are able to absorb excess moisture and provide normal air exchange. There must be drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
As a nutrient substrate, you can choose ready-made soil for flowering crops. If you wish, you can prepare the mixture yourself. To do this, you need to mix two shares of garden and leaf soil, according to the share of humus and sand. It is desirable to add a glass of wood ash to the resulting mixture. Self-prepared soil must be disinfected. I use an ordinary manganese solution for these purposes.
Features of caring for a home rose
The basics for caring for a room rose are about the same and do not differ depending on the variety or color of the buds.
The main aspects can be read:
- Smart watering. Water must be pre-settled and not cold. In the warm season, it is enough to water the rose every other day, just during this time the top layer of soil has time to dry out. In winter, one watering per week is sufficient.
- To maintain the required humidity, water should be sprayed every other day. Water requirements are the same as for irrigation.
- Once a month, indoor beauty needs to be bathed in the shower. Alternatively, you can simply rub the leaves.
- From the beginning of spring to autumn, the rose needs to be fed. The alternation of organic matter and mineral fertilizers is favorable.
- Pruning is required twice a year.
- As the roots fill the pot, the plant needs to be transplanted. It is preferable to use the transfer method.
- Do not forget about preventive treatments for diseases and pests. Despite the fact that houseplants are less likely to suffer from these factors, prevention should not be neglected.
