How to grow radishes twice in a summer?
Radishes can be called a culture that opens the summer season. In the south, radishes can be planted as early as March. In regions with a colder climate, planting should be postponed until May. Once the crop is harvested, the beds must be carefully cleared of plant debris to prepare for re-planting.
To enjoy the harvest throughout the summer season, radishes should be planted in June, adhering to the following scheme of actions:
- In the evening, vegetable beds should be covered with an opaque material for a couple of weeks from the moment the shoots appear.
- Watering is carried out daily.
- In order for the culture to direct all its forces to the formation of the crop, it is worth giving preference to varieties that do not go into the arrow.
Favorable time for re-planting radishes
You can start re-planting by the end of July and continue until October. During the summer season, it is better to choose a landing site in shady areas of the garden. Do not forget about the rules of crop rotation. Radishes will grow well on former onion, garlic and potato beds. You can not alternate radishes with different types of cabbage and turnips.
The soil before sowing must be carefully prepared and nourished with useful elements. To do this, I always make wood ash and humus. For one square of beds, I have a glass of ash and about a bucket of humus.
Together with watering, it is good to make ammonium nitrate.

- The red giant is a variety of late varieties that can also be stored for a long time. The pulp is very juicy, sweetish and has a spicy spicy note.
- Ilke is a mid-season variety. You can harvest a month after planting. Round fruits have snow-white juicy pulp.
We choose the sowing dates and prepare the seed material
Proper preparation of seed material is the key to successful cultivation of radishes.
For high-quality preparation, you need to follow several sequential steps:
- select the largest seeds;
- wrap them in a damp cloth and leave in this state for a day;
- before sowing, it is desirable to soak the material in hot water;
- treat with special growth stimulants and dry thoroughly. As a growth activator, I use the popular Oracle drug.

- Radishes of late varieties with large roots should be planted at least 10 centimeters apart.
