If the leaves turn yellow, then this indicates a lack of nitrogen. The substance is responsible for the formation of beet tops.
If there is a lack of nitrogen, then the leaves will be sluggish and small. Then they turn yellow. When the leaves turn red, we can talk about a magnesium deficiency. If spots appear and the leaves fall off, then the plant lacks iron.
In addition, the plant responds to a lack of manganese and boron in the soil. This problem is common in calcareous and sandy soils.3
Diseases
The tops turn green-yellow - it means that a disease has appeared. Symptom appears if present: downy mildew, brown rot, cercosporosis, blackleg, rust, jaundice.
A common disease is downy mildew. This type of fungus is transmitted through plant debris. The disease is characterized by deformation of foliage, gray-purple bloom and wilting.
With brown rot, the root crop is affected. The tops are underdeveloped, it turns yellow and dies. Beetroot rots during storage.
When rust appears on the leaves, round orange spots form. After a while, they infect the stems and petioles. Then the leaves die off.
