I think I won’t be mistaken if I say that everyone loves sweet peppers. But there are no plants that would not be affected by diseases and pests at all. Here and when growing pepper, various problems also arise. Today we’ll talk about the causes of brown spots on the leaves and how to deal with this disease.
Why do pepper leaves become stained?
Most often, stains occur due to improper care. First, they cover the lower leaves, then they pass to the fruits. To prevent this, it is necessary to establish the cause of the disease in a timely manner and begin to eliminate it.
Diseases and parasites
The culture is often affected by bacterial or infectious diseases, and it is also attacked by pests.
These diseases include:
- phytophthora;
- cladosporiosis;
- alternariosis;
- top rot;
- black spotting.
It is quite difficult to cure plants. Strong chemicals are effective methods of struggle, but sometimes they do not help.
Diseases occur for the following reasons:
- contaminated soil;
- when planting, poor-quality and unprepared seed material was used;
- density of landings;
- low or high air temperature;
- violation of irrigation regimes.
The problem of the appearance of spots on peppers is also attributed to pests. Landings suffer from attacks by aphids, spider mites, whiteflies, naked slugs.
Illiterate care
Plants are damaged by non-compliance with crop rotation and improper watering, as well as due to lack of nutrients and dense plantings.
Get rid of spotting
The appearance of diseases can be detected when examining plants: the bushes become lethargic, the foliage becomes stained. To choose the right treatment, you need to know in what ways you can suppress the disease.
We select drugs
Chemicals used for both prevention and control of diseases. They must be used carefully and strictly follow the instructions. Drugs that are recommended in the fight against spotting:
- "Oxyhom";
- copper oxychloride, or HOM.
Do not use chemicals during flowering and fruiting.
Biologicals more gentle, but less effective. They help fight parasites and diseases, do not accumulate in fruits. The only drawback is that bacteria quickly get used to them, and the means need to be changed.
There are also methods of dealing with specific diseases:
- from top rot, they are treated with milk of lime or calcium chloride;
- from sclerotinia, a mixture consisting of lime and fungicide is used;
- in the fight against phytophthora, Trichodermin, Gamair, Quadris, Ridomil-Gold are used;
- Alternariosis can be eliminated with the help of complex fungicides;
- pests are fought with the help of drugs "Decis", "Karbofos".
Processing is recommended to be carried out no more than once a month. For some diseases, it is acceptable more often.
Folk remedies
In preventive measures, you can use folk methods. They are safe for plants and people.
Pests can be repelled by sprinkling the soil with ground tobacco and lime. Slugs do not tolerate the aroma of calendula, lavender, marigolds, plant these plants next to pepper plantings.
To fight diseases:
- add limestone or ground eggshells to the soil;
- before planting, add organic matter containing nitrogen - bird droppings, manure.
When spots appear on peppers, you can lose part of its crop, as well as all the plants in the garden. The disease is formed for some reason, leading to bad consequences. Before planting a crop, I advise you to carefully read the basic rules for caring for a crop and in the future follow the recommendations received from experienced gardeners.
