The mower must be self-propelled

Every land owner knows how difficult it is to deal with grass. But not everyone knows how much easier it is to do this when the mower drives itself.

The mower must be self-propelled

My dacha experience is already 23 years old, during this time I bought seven different mowers (I started with trimmers, then moved on to "trolleys"). Last year I bought a Hammer KMT100ST gasoline self-propelled mower (my review here) and immediately realized that such a mower should have been acquired much earlier.

This year, at the beginning of the summer season, I was too lazy to “start” the gasoline mower (the whole start consists in pouring oil) and mowed twice with the Makita DLM380 battery (my review here) and it was hard (after mowing all six acres, sweat poured on my face and I was very tired). And when I nevertheless launched the self-propelled one, I immediately realized that it was necessary to do it right away.

If you look closely at the cover photo, you will notice that I operate the mower with one hand. When the mower is self-propelled and it travels in a straight line, this is quite possible.

This year, the first self-propelled battery mowers began to appear (so far only from Greenworks and quite expensive), I think in a couple of years there will be a lot of them. In the meantime, gasoline is cheaper - now their prices start at 21,000 rubles.

In appearance, a self-propelled mower is easy to distinguish from a conventional one - it has not one lever, but two. The one above the handle turns on the engine, and the one below it turns on the wheel drive.

It is most convenient to use the self-propelled mower in mulching mode, without a body (if used with body, each time you have to turn off the engine to empty it, because the knife always spins when it works motor). If at the beginning of the season you mow at least once a week, the grass does not grow much and the pieces of grass scattered by the mower are not visible and serve as a good fertilizer for the soil.

Now, based on my experience, I can say for sure - a self-propelled mower is a very useful thing for everyone whose mowing area exceeds a hundred or two. And in a small area, you can use a non-self-propelled battery.

Peace for everyone!
