Important nuances of preparation

The greenhouse itself before planting seedlings should be processed:

  • disinfect all surfaces with a chlorine solution (400 ml per medium bucket);
  • fertilize the soil with organic additives (rotted manure, compost or peat), mineral preparations with a high content of potassium and phosphorus (according to the dosages indicated in the instructions);
  • balance the acceptable level of soil acidity - no more than 7 pH, otherwise carry out liming or replace the fertile layer;
  • set the optimal air temperature (from +20 °С to +25 °С) and soil (from +15 °С at the time of planting seedlings);
  • set the humidity (60% in the ground, 80% in the air);
  • shed the beds with a hot 3% solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection.

The seed is prepared according to the usual scheme: pickled with a manganese solution, washed and heated on a battery. Then the seeds are planted at home in containers for seedlings or immediately sown in greenhouse soil.

Features of planting and care

For a good growth of cucumbers indoors, it is necessary to follow a number of rules that ensure fast vegetation and a bountiful harvest in the future.

The most important condition is the observance of the optimal temperature regime. At night, the thermometer within the greenhouse should not fall below +16 ° C, the daytime temperature should remain within +20 - 25 ° C. There should not be any sharp fluctuations - strong thermal surges are detrimental to cucumber sissies.

This is followed by a consistently high level of humidity - it should not fall below 80% during the period of active growth and exceed the mark of 90% during the fruiting phase.

The established irrigation regime noticeably affects the state of cucumber lashes, the amount of harvest and the taste of fruits. Cucumbers are juicy vegetables with a high percentage of internal moisture (up to 80% of the total mass), therefore, during the period of growth and development, they need regular and plentiful irrigation.

Basic water requirements:

  • warm;
  • without heavy impurities, salts and fluorine;
  • with soft texture.

For the convenience of irrigation and compliance with all requirements, water for irrigation is poured a few hours before the procedure and left in a container in the sun. So the water settles from all fillings and acquires the desired temperature. If, after these manipulations, it still retains great rigidity, then you can soften it by adding crushed ash (50 g per 10 liters of liquid).

The optimal mode depends on the growth phase of cucumbers and changes during the ripening of the vegetable:

  • immediately after planting, seedlings are abundantly shed, after which watering is repeated every 5 days (consumption - up to 5 liters per meter);
  • at the flowering stage, the interval is reduced to 3 days;
  • during the fruiting period, the frequency of irrigation depends on the temperature outside, in cool weather - every 3 days, in hot weather - daily.

In polycarbonate greenhouses, cucumbers must be systematically fed with organic and mineral fertilizers. Before flowering, it is better to apply a complex growth enhancer with a high nitrogen content. Two weeks later (when the first ovaries appear), repeat feeding, focusing on complexes with a high potassium index. After another couple of weeks, during active fruiting, cucumbers need phosphorus, sulfur, potassium and nitrogen. The last stage after 15 days is the introduction of potassium and phosphorus.

Subject to all the rules, a polycarbonate greenhouse will give a plentiful cucumber harvest of delicious fruits.
