I thought for a long time how to finish the gas-block house inside

It must be admitted that construction is not the most pleasant activity, accompanied by dirt, dust and noise. Much more pleasant to do the finishing of the completed house. So I finally got to this stage. Soon I have to do the interior decoration of the walls. I note that I built the house from aerated concrete blocks, which do not look very attractive.

I thought for a long time how to finish the gas-block house inside - plaster or drywall? Finally made a decision - but so far and unsure
When I came close to the interior decoration, I was faced with the question: “What kind of material should I choose for this?” Although the choice is small, it provided me with food for thought.

Here are the options I've been tossing around with:

1. Drywall

I planned to glue sheets of drywall directly onto aerated concrete. Many will say that it is more correct to make a frame, but I will find an answer to this.

I have repeatedly seen how people glued drywall right up to the wall. And all because this technology has a lot of advantages:

  • work is not too dirty;
  • everything is done simply and quickly;
  • even a beginner can handle the task.
But there is a significant minus here, which stopped me. There will certainly be a small gap between the drywall and the wall - a layer of glue. It is impossible to predict what will happen in this gap.

Due to all kinds of micro-cracks in the seams and in the gas block itself, in fact it will become an air gap in which temperature and humidity can change.

As a result, fungus will begin to appear, mold will develop. And you will not immediately understand what is happening behind the drywall. And when the problem is discovered, it will be too late. Building materials will be irreparably harmed, not to mention the health of households.

This problem nullifies all the advantages of the method.

2. Plaster with beacons

In this case, the problem described above is eliminated. But other difficulties make themselves felt.

Firstly, plastering walls is a long and laborious process. Secondly, it is unlikely that it will be possible to finish the walls beautifully and evenly the first time. You need to practice, fill your hand. Therefore, the process is delayed.

And the one I chose...

Choosing between these two options, I remembered another way. It is not very common, but in some cases it can help out. This is about thin plaster.

It is applied to the reinforcing mesh without using beacons. Smooth the plaster with spatulas.

This option is only suitable for flat walls. Luckily, this is what I have at home. Sometimes there are differences between the blocks, but they can be easily removed with a grater.

Advantages of the method:

  • not labor intensive;
  • economical consumption of material;
  • high speed of work (when compared with conventional plaster).

So for now I prefer the third option. But the final decision has not yet been made!
