During the construction of the house, I thought about what kind of stove I would use in it. I hoped that with the advent of a long-burning stove, the issue of heating would completely disappear. In general, this question really disappeared, but other problems surfaced, which I decided to talk about today.

My experience of using a long-burning stove is one season, but I have already managed to draw some conclusions. Before the appearance of the stove, I already had two 1500 W convectors. Then I got the unit shown in the photo. This is "Klondike NV 150 - Buleryan Type 0.5".

Maybe after another season I will change my mind, but for now it is this:

  • 1. Long-burning stoves do not live up to their name. I want to note that, in principle, such furnaces do not exist.

Manufacturers claim that one firebox should be enough for at least 8 hours of heating a home. But this indicator is influenced by a lot of factors, such as traction strength and stability, fuel used, etc.

βœ” The main problem is this: when firewood smolders in the oven, i.e. Since it works in the long-burning mode, the furnace itself emits almost no heat. It turns out that she practically does not heat the house. Heat comes out only when the fuel is actively burning.

  • 2. Such ovens cannot be used as a permanent heat source. This paragraph is a logical continuation of the previous one.

During the burning of firewood, someone must always be near the stove to control the flame, throw fuel. Agree that this is extremely inconvenient. Especially during the day, when you have to go about your business, and you have to be at the stove. Yes, and at night it is risky to sleep by an open fire.

  • First, you need to constantly think about the procurement of fuel. If you do not take care of this, you will either have to buy expensive briquettes, or use raw firewood. Believe me, you will not like both options.
  • Secondly, there is a lot of dirt from the stove in the house. Imagine, because you need to heat it all the time, and this is soot, cinder, sawdust, etc.
  • Thirdly, the stove must be maintained, ash removed, and the chimney cleaned. This is difficult and labor intensive.

So far I have no opportunity to organize another heating in the house. Therefore, next winter I will also use the stove. And then we'll see how this option suits me.
