Attempts to improve the existing arsenal of weapons is standard practice for any army in the world. Because history knows thousands of cases of such modernization. Here are just some of them are so unsuccessful that instead of pride they cause rather a feeling of shame. Your attention to 5 strange weapons, for which the authors were embarrassed.

1. Panzer 68

In the second half of the last century, Switzerland decided to create a tank. That's just, this time the famous quality, to put it mildly let us down. Instead of a maneuverable, accurately shooting vehicle, we got a copy in which only journalists counted fifty shortcomings of the tank. Among them, the most notable were the inability to accurately hitch, ride backwards, and even shoot with the cabin heating turned on. The Panzer 68 series was removed from service almost immediately after release.

2. Sticky anti-tank grenade

This unusual hand grenade was created by British gunsmiths during World War II, largely due to the fact that they simply lacked traditional anti-tank weapons. It was a glass capsule in a non-solid case, which was treated with a special sticky substance. The latter was just supposed to stick the grenade to the armor of an enemy tank after being thrown, and only five seconds after that it worked so that the soldier had time to run away. However, it turned out that they are much better molded on the soldiers themselves than on tanks, because only the intervention of Churchill allowed them to be released in the amount of 2.5 million pieces. However, this did not improve their performance in any way.

3. kamikaze bats

The Americans, who fought Japan in World War II, once decided to experiment with bats, making live kamikaze bombs out of them. The essence of the idea was to send hordes of these mammals, to which small charges are attached, to Japanese cities for bombardment. And it seems that the concept had a great future, especially after successful tests. Yes, only one day, through negligence, bats were torn from hibernation at the base of American troops. As a result, they simply bombed the base itself, and the developers no longer took risks with this project.

There was also such a military concept in Russian history, for which it is rather a shame. We are talking about the round battleships "Popovka", which were named after the initiator of the project, Admiral Andrei Aleksandrovich Popov. Such unusual ships were planned to be used to protect the coastline from attack from the sea. Two "priests" were built - "Novgorod" and "Kyiv" in 1875, which turned out to be the first battleships of the Black Sea Fleet. But their functionality turned out to be insignificant: they were uncontrollable, the speed was too low, and the vibrations of the water leveled all the merits of maneuverability. As a result, the "priests" were withdrawn from the fleet quite quickly, but the project itself was forgotten.

Perhaps there is no more memorable weapon of a real ninja than shuriken. True, even for these professionals, in reality, they were not of such interest, as is usually portrayed. Firstly, you need to learn how to use them for years, and it’s not a fact that it will work out. And secondly, even those who have mastered this skill would not be able to inflict really strong damage on the enemy - a maximum, a deep cut.
