Voyager MX4 combines the seemingly incongruous: at less than 14 kg, it has huge 10-inch inflatable wheels, a disc brake, a 375 Wh battery and can withstand up to 120 kg.

Review: HIPER Voyager MX4 electric scooter

Now there are many different electric scooters on sale, but if you look for a scooter with large 10-inch wheels, they will mostly be heavy "monsters" under 20 kilograms in weight, but if you look for a scooter with a minimum weight, 11-12 kg models are mainly equipped with batteries of 20 18650 cells (180-187 Wh, 5000-5200 mAh, 36 V), which are only enough for 10-12 kilometers of real run.

The ideal battery for a modern urban scooter - 40 cells (360-375 Wh, 10000-10400 mAh, 36 V),
ideal weight - up to 15 kg,
ideal wheels - 10 inches (25 cm).

In the new 2022 model range, Hiper has a scooter that combines all these "ideal parameters" - Voyager MX4. Its recommended price is 33,490 rubles, but Wildberries is now selling it for 25,787 rubles.

Scooter technical parameters:

Front wheel motor: 350 W, 10" inflatable;
Rear wheel: aluminum rim, 10" inflatable;

Weight: 13.8 kg.

Many parameters, including dimensions and weight, are not given by the manufacturer, so I measured them myself.

The bottom of the deck is protected by a solid steel construction (no plastic or aluminum!), which protects the batteries from damage even with a very strong impact from below.

For the first time I meet that eco-leather is used as a deck covering on a scooter. Standing on it is comfortable and not slippery, it is easy to wipe, but the dirt on it is clearly visible. The deck is slightly tilted back, has a slightly smaller width at the back and smooth rises in front and behind. The length of its flat part is 44 cm, the length of the cover is 54 cm.

The rear wing is not intended for braking, but in an emergency it can become an additional brake. The red light is on when the headlight is on and flashes when the brake lever is pressed.

The steering rack smoothly changes from a round shape to a rectangular one at the top. There is a headlight on top.

On the right on the steering wheel is the throttle lever, on the left is the brake lever (at the beginning of its pressing, engine braking is turned on, when pressed further, the mechanical disc brake works). There is a call nearby.

A single button is used for control: with a long press, it turns the scooter on or off, with a single press it changes three speed modes, with a double press it turns on or off the headlight.
The screen displays the current speed, speed mode, battery level.

Two important features are turned on and off in the application: cruise control and starting from a place.

While the start from the place is turned off, in order to ride the scooter, you must first push off with your foot, and then press the gas. When standing start is enabled, the scooter starts immediately when the accelerator lever is pressed.

Cruise control maintains speed without holding the throttle. It works as follows: if you do not change the position of the throttle stick for 1 second, a double signal sounds - the cruise control has turned on and maintains the current speed, the throttle lever can be released. Cruise control is disabled when the gas or brake is pressed, and a single signal is heard. The peculiarity of cruise control in this model is that it fixes exactly the speed, and not the degree of pressure on the gas, and this is not always convenient: if the scooter goes uphill and cannot accelerate faster, for example, 15 km/h, the cruise control will maintain this speed even if the scooter is already traveling with slides.

The folding mechanism is simple and convenient: in front there is a lever with a safety lock.

On the steering rack is a bracket that fixes it to the rear fender.

It is convenient to carry a folded scooter - the weight distribution is done correctly. Rolling a folded scooter is possible, but not very convenient. When folded, the scooter can only stand with the footrest.

The scooter does not have shock absorbers, since the ten-inch inflatable wheels themselves absorb perfectly.

Charger 42V 1.5A. During charging, the scooter turns off completely, the percentage of charge does not show. The end of charging can be monitored by the color of the indicator on the charger.

The scooter connects via Bluetooth to the Hiper IOT app. It is very convenient that this application is Tuya-compatible and you can add smart devices from many manufacturers (light bulbs, sockets, cameras, etc.) to it.

In addition to controlling the cruise control modes and starting from a place, the application has an anti-theft blocking of the scooter, a display of the scooter operating modes (charge in percentage, current battery voltage, current current and power consumption, total mileage, scooter life, current speed, average speed, distance per day, route traveled on the map), in addition, you can control the same modes as the button on the steering wheel - turn on the headlight, switch modes speed.

Tires must be inflated before use (recommended pressure of 250 KPa is indicated on them). The rear wheel can be inflated using a conventional pump with a "car" connection, for the front one you will need such an adapter (I bought it in Ozone for 170 rubles), it is not included in the kit of the scooter.

Unfortunately, the scooter does not have a rear mudguard, and the wing is too short, so it is enough to drive through the smallest puddle, and all the trousers and the bottom of the T-shirt will be covered in dirty drops at the back. Luckily, the two self-tapping screws holding the flashlight allow you to attach a homemade mudguard. Of course, it would be best to print it on a 3D printer, but in ten minutes I made a mudguard from a thick a plastic folder for papers (I only had a transparent one, but they are black and the mudguard will look better).

This is what the scooter looks like with my homemade mudguard. Not very nice, but the trousers are now clean after driving through puddles.

I have been riding this scooter for several days now and the impressions are generally good: large inflatable wheels allow you to easily overcome small curbs, comfortably ride on tiles and roads without asphalt coatings.

Peace for everyone!
