So we have lived in the era of total savings to the point that a seemingly ordinary wire can be with an unexpected catch.
This Rexant PGVA wire (Flexible Vinyl_Insulation Automotive Wire) 1x0.50 mm² is sold for 5-8 rubles per meter (500-800 rubles a coil of 100 meters) and this is slightly cheaper than a conventional mounting wire of the same section.
The maximum voltage is 48 V and you might think that it costs less due to the fact that the insulation cannot withstand the mains voltage, but no, everything is much worse.
It looks like a wire, like a wire. The color lived like that of an ordinary copper wire.
But if you heat the veins with a lighter...
The wire consists of seven strands, 0.306 mm thick (total cross section 0.51 mm²).
The resistance of one meter of wire is 58.6 milliohms.
Natural aluminum! A cross section of about 0.492 mm² (for reference: a copper wire with such a resistance would have a cross section of 0.3 mm²).
Neither on manufacturer's website, there is not a word about the composition of the cores on the coil itself. However, some sellers write "Material: aluminum / copper", although copper is there only "for entourage".
Unfortunately, aluminum can be found in wires more and more often. Many cheap extension cords now have aluminum wires, and even a regular installation wire can turn out to be aluminum. Be alert!
Peace for everyone!
