The self-propelled mower makes it much easier and faster to mow grass in both large and small areas. Until recently, only petrol mowers were self-propelled, but finally, self-propelled battery mowers began to appear on sale.
I studied the most affordable battery-powered "self-propelled gun" today.
Thanks to the Kuvalda.ru company, my mother had a FUBAG FLA 4240 SM mower in her dacha, which has the following characteristics:
Cutting width: 42 cm;
Cutting height: 25-75mm (6 levels);
Mowing modes: collecting grass in a grass collector (45 liters), mulching, throwing back;
Movement: manual or automatic (3.6 km/h);
Included: battery 40V 4Ah, charger 2A;

Weight with battery: 20 kg, with grass catcher 21.4 kg (on the manufacturer's website and in all stores, the weight is 26 kg, but in fact it is less - I weighed it).
The creators of this mower did not "reinvent the wheel" by simply taking a conventional gasoline self-propelled mower and replacing the engine with an electric one. The entire electrical part is located in the "head".
Under the cover there is a double battery compartment (in the right one you can simply store a spare battery, this mower "got" it from the older model, where two batteries work). Above the battery is a key that turns off the power.
The body is steel, the knife is 42 cm, the wheel drive is exactly the same as that of a gasoline mower - a belt from the main shaft and a gearbox with a controlled clutch.

Unlike many other cordless mowers sold without a battery and charger, everything is included here.
The battery contains 20 cells 18650 3.7V 2Ah (during the discharge, the voltage on the cell drops from 4.2 to 3.0 volts, so different manufacturers batteries in which 10 cells are connected in series indicate a different battery voltage - 36 or 40 volts, in fact, this is the same same). There are charge level indicators that turn on when you press a button and are constantly on when charging. Battery weight - 1.3 kg.
The handle of the mower is folding, in order to fold it, it is enough to partially unscrew the two "lambs".
Grass catcher made of cloth with a hard top. The wide socket does not prevent the grass from spilling out, the attachment to the mower is simple and convenient.
When the mower is used in mulching mode, a plug is inserted into the grass ejection port.
Experience has shown that if cut grass is not required as a fertilizer, in most cases it is better to mow in mulching mode without a grass box. The mower cuts the grass very finely and these cuttings are completely invisible on the lawn, over time they rot and fertilize the soil.
To start the mower, you need to press the red button and, without releasing it, press the upper bracket to the handle, after which the button can be released. To turn on the movement, you need to press the bottom bracket against the handle.
The motor operates in two modes. It always starts in normal mode and automatically enters turbo mode when under heavy load. When the load is reduced, after a few seconds, the turbo mode is turned off.
We mowed the entire mother's plot (12 acres, of which the grass occupies about a quarter of the territory) with this mower in 20 minutes (with the old small network mower, my mother spent up to two hours). Periodically, the mower went into turbo mode, so the total battery life was 27 minutes 30 seconds.
At first glance, it may seem that about 30 minutes of work is not enough, but in reality this is not at all the case. For a typical plot of 6 acres, even if it is all covered with grass and there are no buildings on it, this enough time - mowing with a self-propelled mower with a working width of 42 centimeters is very fast.
Self-propelled battery mower FUBAG FLA 4240 SM stands 32 130 rubles.
Additionally, you can buy a second of the same battery for 6 860 rubles.
On sale there is also a high-speed charger FCH 5040 for 3 600 rubles, charging the battery not in 2 hours 10 minutes, but in 50 minutes.
In my opinion, the mower is excellent (mom is also delighted). A big plus of this model is that all its mechanical parts, including the self-propelling mechanism, have been worked out for years in gasoline mowers and this design is quite reliable. By the way, the manufacturer's warranty is two years.
In fact, this is a "gasoline self-propelled gun" without gasoline, which means it is much quieter, odorless, does not require maintenance and consumables (oil, gasoline), which does not need to be started by pulling the cable. Perhaps the only negative is the long battery charge with the supplied charger, but buying a fast charger solves this problem.
