Greetings, dear subscribers and guests of the channel!

Plastic ties are a truly remarkable invention. As soon as they appeared, there was no need to tie the necessary elements with rope, wire, electrical tape and other consumables. Ties even replace police handcuffs, they are so popular and reliable.

I stopped buying plastic clamps a long time ago. I learned how to make them quickly and simply in the right quantities.
I don’t need to catch criminals, but I can’t do without plastic ties, due to the nature of my activity in my summer cottage. There were times when, even in winter, I prepared several packs of screeds to last for the entire summer season, because without them it’s difficult at the dacha, but with them it’s convenient and comfortable. However, industrial plastic ties, in addition to undoubted advantages, have some disadvantages.

For example:

  • one particular screed is used only once. It is impossible to remove them without damage, you have to cut and throw them away;
  • at the right moment they are not at hand. This, of course, can only be my personal flaw, but the fact remains.

The situation is sometimes simply anecdotal - at home there are a couple of packs of screeds, but not a single one in the country. You can’t go for this product tens of kilometers into the city to an apartment or a store.

Generally speaking, a similar problem applies to other tools. Often there is no screwdriver or tape at hand or God knows what else. But now I don’t travel many kilometers for plastic ties and I don’t buy this product at all. Why? The answer is simple, I make them myself from auxiliary materials.

Ancillary material, which is perfectly suited for making a tie or clamp, is easily obtained from an ordinary PET bottle. There are always plenty of plastic bottles in the country, so you don’t have to go anywhere to get them. For the manufacture, in addition to the bottle, you will need an ordinary knife and a lighter or a candle.

Important: a homemade screed can be used repeatedly, which is very convenient. I personally conducted numerous tests in this regard and the result was the most positive.
  • 1. So, we take an empty PET bottle, preferably cleared of traces of its former contents. We separate the upper and lower parts from the bottle, getting a plastic cylinder.
  • 2. Cutting it lengthwise, we get a rectangle of plastic.
  • 3. We apply straight parallel lines on it at a distance of two centimeters and cut the rectangle into strips along these lines.

You can use scissors, you can use a sharp clerical knife, you can use any tool, only sharp.

  • 4. Then we heat the cutting tool on the fire of a lighter (or over candles) and with the blade we cut across the strip at a distance of one centimeter.

Millimeter precision is not needed here. From the edge, these strips should recede by 5 mm.

  • 5. Then we cut off, using a knife and a ruler (or even stick), on both sides of the workpiece, stepping back a centimeter from its beginning, along the length, thin strips.

You should get a kind of tail that can crawl into centimeter strips that we cut across the workpiece (photo below).

  • 6. Now, to secure, it is necessary to wrap the object with a screed, insert the tail of the screed into the first slot, then, bending it, insert it into the second and third. The tail of the tie should come out on top of slot number three.

Now hold the head of the tie and tighten it. The tip is reinserted into the first slot. If after this procedure it turns out to be long, then it can be safely cut off.
