This is the smallest Xiaomi TV. I bought it, as they say, to try: what is it like to order televisions in China, and is it worth the risk with the order?
It turned out that this is one of the best TVs in its class. Cheap, like Mystery or Haier, but it looks like Sony is 2 times more expensive. There are no analogues in its category in terms of “smart” functions.
The parcel was traveling for more than a month due to the transport company IML, which made me quite nervous. Tracking on the Russian website is only within Russia, so I found out about the customs crossing only after. You can't reach technical support, you just have to wait.
But everything turned out well: the TV arrived covered on both sides with pieces of centimeter cardboard. Inside there is also quite good protection, although on the matrix side there is a risk of breaking through the box; there is no protection in front of it (except for the top sheet).
The manufacturer of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32 matrix is not officially indicated; macro photographs indicate that it is IPS. Based on a quick test, you can play, the response time is good. I'm lucky that my copy has no dead pixels, although there are highlights in the corners, although not critical.
For Russia, this is more of a monitor than a TV, since there is not a single analog tuner for Russia. But there are more than enough other inputs: 2 x HDMI (with ARC support), composite audio-video input (3 x RCA), audio output S/PDIF (coaxial), 1 x USB 2.0 (with HID support, meaning keyboards can be connected), 1 x Ethernet (100 Mbps). There is Wi-Fi, but control is via infrared. 2 speakers, 10 W each - the sound is very good.
The operating system is entirely in Chinese, based on Android 6.0 with the proprietary MIUI TV add-on. Convenient, fast and thoughtful. But it is almost impossible to use anything from it. Only third-party applications and signal source selection menus. Although, that's enough for me.
Perhaps the main problem is that you cannot install Google Apps. However, you can install third-party programs through the MITVAssistant application: for me it’s a launcher, free IP TV and online cinemas.
Perhaps most importantly, the smart functions of Mi TV allow you to combine the TV with other smart gadgets in the house to create a single space.
Is it worth buying? Definitely yes, if you only use the TV to watch movies and shows; definitely yes, if you use a TV with a set-top box; definitely yes if you use a TV instead of a monitor.
Only $219 - and not a single competitor
