We tested an interesting Chinese laptop from the Martian company.

"The Martian" is a traditional laptop for repackaging by a large brand, which, however, fortunately for us, I received my own logo of the manufacturing plant and got to various buyer.

Thanks to this, the laptop is almost half the price of its more famous counterparts. And the abundance of options allows you to choose exactly your configuration. Interesting? U.S. too. So let's get started!

Box, complete set

The box comes unmarked. It contains a rather modest set: a laptop, a power supply, an adapter for an outlet and instructions.

Internal configuration

There are several modifications of the Martian A8 on the market, differing from each other in processor, size of solid-state drive and RAM.

We tested one of the lower configurations with an Intel Core i3-4030U processor, 8 GB of RAM and a full range of necessary capabilities.

The 1.9 GHz dual-core processor used has Hyper-Threading support, so it can compete with older i5 models in some types of computing. Among the shortcomings is the lack of Turbo Boost.

The only graphics adapter is the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 core.

All variants of Martian A8 are equipped with 2 words of DDR3 RAM. However, most of them only come with 1. So is our sample, which uses an 8GB DDR3-1600 module from Samsung.

To connect a hard drive, the motherboard has 2 MSATA connectors. Our Martian 1 uses a Micron SSD - reliable and quite powerful; the second one can be used for any suitable 2.5-inch drive.

To provide wireless communications, “Martian” is equipped with a module supporting Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Gigabit Ethernet is provided for undersea connections.

The sound in the Martian A8 is made on Realtek ALC282, which sounds the system from 4 speakers at once. To connect compact systems, a combined minijack is used. There is also a 1.3 MP webcam.

The autonomy of the device is ensured by a built-in non-removable battery of 45 Wh, or in incorrect, but more popular units - 6040 mAh.

Design and ergonomics

Martian A8, thanks to its diagonal, belongs to the category of compact ultrabooks. Thanks to the all-metal body made of painted aluminum, it could easily be confused with a MacBook, but the large branded sticker logo of the Chinese company changes the matter.

The dimensions of the device prove that it can fit even in a small bag, as they are only 324 x 218 x 17 mm. The mass only confirms the conclusion, since it is 1.37 kilograms.

The cover is attached to the keyboard unit using a hinge system and provides excellent rigidity. Any position up to 130 degrees is available for opening.

The internal surface of the device is made of plastic in the color of the top cover.

On the left are USB 3.0 connectors, power, a mini-jack for headphones and a Reset recessed into the body.

On the right, the user will find USB 3.0, cartridges, HDMI and LAN.

Keyboard block

This is the second most important element of every laptop. Without a good keyboard, even the most advanced hardware turns into nothing. The new laptop in question uses one of the best keyboards.

The Martian A8 has a regular chiclet keyboard with plastic keys with a travel of about 1.5 millimeters. keyboard is used

The size of the keys is standard, but the distance between them is increased. There is no Russification; you will have to use engraving or stickers. There is a uniform white backlight with two brightness levels.

Touchpad

The touchpad is equipped with simulated keys, but allows you to use any point as the left mouse button. All Windows 10 gestures are functional. So responsive, unlike most Chinese laptops, touches are processed instantly and very accurately.

Display

The main display device for the Martian A8 is a chic IPS matrix with a matte finish and anti-glare.

The presence of additional processing and high brightness of the full HD display allows you to use the laptop even in bright sunny conditions.

Viewing angles tend to reference ones. Contrast, brightness and color display are very good - most laptops cannot boast of this.

Performance

The nominal frequency of the processor used in the test sample is 1.9 GHz. With maximum and prolonged loading of synthetic tests, the lovely core temperature is 68 °C. This is an excellent result for a portable device, ensuring guaranteed stable and long-term operation, as well as the absence of additional factors for device failure.

The write speed to RAM is standard for the used DDR3-1600 12395 MB/s, reading speed is 11915 MB/s.

MSI GT62VR 6RE Dominator Pro 4K gaming laptopAs already noted, the storage subsystem of the Martian A8 laptop is a Micron RealSSD C400-MTFDDAT128MAM (mSATA) SSD with a capacity of 128 GB.

The built-in 128 GB SSD drive shows a sequential read speed of about 280 MB/s, a similar sequential speed of about 185 MB/s.

In idle mode, the cooling system is idle and absolutely silent. Under maximum stress load, the laptop sounds no louder than a refrigerator.

Battery life

Thanks to a fairly capacious battery, Martian A8 shows good autonomy results for its class.

At average screen brightness, the laptop allows you to watch videos for 4 hours. For office work it is enough for 5 hours.

conclusions

Martian A8 is an extremely interesting device for Russian consumers. Quiet, comfortable, well assembled from good materials. The filling didn't disappoint either.

The most budget modification of a laptop with an Intel Core i3-5010U processor costs only $377. The more productive modification discussed in our article with Intel Core i5-4310U is already $530.

But the coolest option is 2 versions with a modern Intel Core i7 7500U: the first costs $540 and is equipped with 8 GB of RAM/128 SSD, the second costs $610 (from coupons Martini7 - only 585.99) is equipped with a twice as capacious drive.
