Chuwi and Gearbest present the updated LapBook Air. The new product received a unique display for its class, increased RAM, additional slots (including PCIe M.2), a metal case and the lowest price in this class.
The new version of Chuwi LapBook Air is still equipped with a glossy 14.1-inch IPS display and Full HD resolution. However, the matrix manufacturer eliminated the air layer between the protective glass and the LEDs - now it is OSG screen without an air gap, providing high contrast, image clarity and no glare
The processor is an Intel Celeron N3450 with 4 cores and an Intel 500 video accelerator. Compared to the popular Intel Atom z8350, this processor has a clock speed increased by 30%. The clock frequency of the video accelerator has been increased by one and a half times. In addition, the processor received full support for modern virtualization technologies, an accelerated memory bus with bandwidth capacity is 3 times higher than its predecessor, and video supports hardware decoding of all popular formats, including h.264. As a result, Celeron is 30% faster than its predecessor in processor computing and 70% faster in video processing.
Chuwi LapBook Air has the largest amount of memory among all low-end Chinese ultrabooks: it uses 8 GB dual-channel memory. The manufacturer has not yet provided detailed information about the possibility of expansion, however, most likely, the memory is soldered on the motherboard. In addition, its throughput has now become 38 Gbps.
The permanent memory is represented by a 128 GB eMMC module. Expansion is supported by installing an M.2 SSD disk with a capacity of up to 2 TB. To install the module, there is a hatch in the case that allows you to install the drive without disassembling the entire device. Memory cards up to 128 GB are also supported. External interfaces are represented by two USB 3.0 ports, microHDMI and a combined 3.5 mm jack.
External changes to the model are no less relevant. The updated Chuwi LapBook Air received an all-metal case that works as external cooling (there is no active cooling). Considering the minimal bezels around the display, this is an excellent move to ensure rigidity. Another innovation was a backlit keyboard - a first among Chinese laptops, with the exception of Xiaomi.
The latest version of Chuwi LapBook Air has a battery increased to 10,000 mAh, ensuring the laptop operates for 7-8 hours.
