Compared to its predecessor, Ulefone Power 2 has increased memory capacity and a more powerful processor. But the main feature of this device is its 6050 mAh battery and impressive autonomy. Thanks to this, Power 2 attracts increased attention from users who are tired of smartphones whose charge lasts for a maximum of 1 day.

Equipment

The number of additional accessories that the manufacturer has equipped this smartphone with is impressive. In the box you can find a protective case, the design of which imitates the texture of leather, and additional glass is provided to protect the front panel. There is also a “needle” for removing the SIM tray.

The standard USB cable is complemented by an OTG adapter, which is useful for supplying power to other connected USB devices. A golden metal plate with a ring and the uleFone logo is a holder for a smartphone.

It attaches to the back of the case (or protective case) and serves as a support, thanks to which the smartphone can be placed on a flat surface.

To ensure fast charging, a powerful power adapter is provided, with a voltage from 5 to 12V and a maximum charge current of 2A.

Appearance, body

Ulefone Power 2 received three color options: black, gray and gold. The main part of the body is made of metal, and the front panel is covered with 2.5D glass rounded at the edges, manufactured by Corning. In addition, the case is characterized by neat, high-quality assembly. The impressive dimensions (155 x 77.6 x 9.9 mm) and weight (210 g) are due to the fact that the smartphone has a high-capacity battery.

Connectors, controls

The mechanical button located under the screen is equipped with a built-in fingerprint sensor. Regardless of the angle at which the fingerprint is scanned, the sensor responds quickly and accurately. In addition to scanning fingerprints, the button can be used to navigate the interface:

  • a single touch goes back;
  • when held for a long time, a list of running applications opens;
  • A full short press on the button minimizes all applications.

In addition, navigation pointers are displayed in the lower bar of the system interface. They can be completely hidden or activated through the settings. Thus, the user can independently choose what to use to control the interface: touch buttons, or a mechanical multifunction key under the screen.

To adjust the volume and control the power/lock, there are buttons on the side edge on the right. On the left there is a tray of a hybrid design for installing a SIM card and a flash drive. The microphone, speaker and MicroUSB connector are located at the bottom end.

Display

Ulefone Power 2 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). Accordingly, the user can count on high-quality, clear images with good viewing angles. The screen also has a good minimum brightness, making it comfortable to read even in complete darkness. For those who care about their vision, the Eye Protection function is provided. When activated, a blue spectrum filter is applied, which reduces eye strain.

The touchscreen supports up to 5 simultaneous touches. Gorilla Glass 3rd generation was used as a protective coating, which has increased resistance to abrasions and scratches. The glass also received a good oleophobic layer, which prevents fingerprints and ensures easy sliding of the finger.

Hardware: performance and memory

The hardware base is a MediaTek MT6750T processor (8 cores at 1.5 GHz), with an integrated Mali-T860MP2 graphics accelerator. Moreover, the device comes with 4GB of RAM, which is more than enough to run resource-intensive applications without any problems.

The smartphone demonstrates excellent performance speed, regardless of the tasks performed. Copes with running any 3D games, but to ensure comfortable FPS, texture quality can be reduced.

Still, this smartphone is far from flagship hardware. This is evidenced by synthetic performance tests AnTuTu and 3DMark (the device was tested in Sling Shot Extreme mode).

The built-in storage capacity is as much as 64 GB. Part of the space is occupied for system needs, and, accordingly, 10 GB less is available to the user. But for most, 54 GB is more than enough to install games and all the necessary applications, as well as store your movies and music collection. You can completely do without using an external drive, but if such a need arises, the smartphone will easily “read” a MicroSD card with a capacity of up to 256 GB.

Battery, autonomy

Ulefone Power 2 is equipped with a built-in lithium polymer battery manufactured by Sony with a capacity of 6050 mAh. Compared to batteries from other manufacturers, this battery has a higher degree of reliability, since it retains its capacity longer and is able to withstand more cycles charging and discharging. The Ulefone website states that on a single charge, Power 2 can last up to 4 days in moderate use, and up to 2 days with active use.

Judging by the test results, the declared autonomy of Ulefone Power 2 is quite true. If you use a smartphone to access the Internet, make calls and correspondence from time to time on social networks, occasionally watch videos - the smartphone really works for 4 days. And this is with always-on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE networks and an active GPS connection. It is unlikely that you will be able to completely discharge the battery in one day, even using your smartphone “to the fullest.” This is only possible for those users who are fond of 3D games.

To avoid spending a lot of time on recharging, Pump Express 2.0 technology is provided. As a result, it will take only 2 hours to replenish the charge with the supplied power adapter from 0 to 100%. A half-hour recharge will be enough for a whole day of battery life.

Camera

The interface of the shooting application is simple, contains a minimum of settings, among which we can highlight only the presence of an HDR mode. The main photo module is represented by a 13 MP sensor, with interpolation up to 16 MP and an f/2.2 aperture. The front sensor is 8 megapixel, with interpolation up to 13 MP. It takes pictures quite well, unlike the main photo module.

It’s worth noting right away that the camera is not the strong point of the Ulefone Power 2. The frames turn out overexposed or too dim. But the main problem is that the pictures lack sharpness: the sharpest area falls in the center of the frame, and the image blurs on the sides of it.

In the frame with walnut tree leaves, the focus error is clearly noticeable: the focus shifts from foreground to the background, causing objects behind to sometimes appear more sharp.

With subject photography, things are much better: with a sufficient level of lighting, the resulting photos have good sharpness and detail. The lack of natural light in the room can be easily compensated with the help of flash.

As a result, the camera is more suitable for technical photography than for landscape and portrait photography. Ideal for cases when you need to photograph text or make a photo note. In addition, not everyone needs a powerful camera, and the smartphone itself is more aimed at people for whom the autonomy of the device is a priority.

Connection

The device can work with two nanoSIM cards and supports 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks (B1/3/7/8/20). High-speed access to mobile Internet is provided using LTE Cat.6. You can also note stable signal reception and good communication quality. Ulefone Power 2 is equipped with a dual-band Wi-Fi module operating in the 2.4G/5G frequency range and a Bluetooth 4.0 wireless module.

Navigation capabilities include support for GPS and GLONASS. The smartphone connects to satellites quickly and does not lose contact with them during operation. There is also support for an electronic compass.

The software basis of the smartphone is Android 7.0 OS. On their own behalf, the developers added icons redrawn in the same style and introduced the ability to unlock the screen with a double tap. Wireless firmware update to new versions is supported.

Pros and cons of Ulefone Power 2

Pros:

  • large battery, impressive autonomy;
  • fast charging support;
  • good equipment;
  • current OS version;
  • good supply of RAM and built-in memory;
  • build quality, body materials;
  • ability to select a control method in the interface.

Minuses:

  • The shell interface is not for everyone;
  • tangible dimensions and weight;
  • Pictures from the main camera are not sharp enough at the edges of the frame.

Bottom line

Ulefone Power 2 is an excellent option for those who are looking for a smartphone with really high battery life: not every device can withstand 4 days of moderate use. And for those who use the gadget occasionally, one charge will last for an even longer period.

Taking into account the above, as well as the rich equipment, three color options (gold, gray and black) and impressive amounts of memory, all the shortcomings of the smartphone fade into the background. Of course, if you don’t forget that Ulefone Power 2 costs only $160.
