In 2017, the list of smartphones with a display diagonal similar to tablets was supplemented by an affordable model released under the Uhans brand. The manufacturer positions Uhans Max 2 as a multimedia device with which you can conveniently view photos, videos and other content. A spacious internal storage is provided for storing content. In addition, it supports installing MicroSD cards and connecting external storage devices (HDD and SSD). A decent level of autonomy is ensured by a capacious battery. Other features of this model include support for 4 cameras.
Appearance, ergonomics
The buyer has a choice of two color options for the case: classic black and gold (with a white front panel). The rear part and side edges are covered with a metal plate, with plastic inserts on top and bottom. The screen is protected by glass, the edges of which are curved according to the 2.5D standard. The ease of use of the product was influenced by such factors as the weight of the case (245 g), as well as its dimensions (176.5 x 89.2 x 9.2 mm).
Despite the fact that Uhans Max 2 easily fits in a man's trouser pocket, it is better to choose another option for transporting the gadget. For example, a purse, a bag, a large purse or an internal pocket in a coat are perfect. Holding the phablet with one hand, it is not possible to reach all the elements on the screen with your finger. However, some actions can be replaced with gestures. In addition, the surface of the case is not slippery, and thanks to the rounded side ribs, the device fits quite well in the hand.
Connectors and control elements
On the right side, above the power button and volume rocker, there is a tray of a combined design. It contains two slots in which, at the user’s choice, you can simultaneously install two SIM cards, or a MicroSD drive in combination with one SIM.
The only element on the top edge is a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones.
The MicroUSB connector, which supports connecting external USB gadgets via an OTG cable, as well as the main speaker and microphone grilles are located on the bottom edge.
Instead of touch buttons for navigation, the OS interface provides on-screen controls. A biometric sensor is built into the button under the display, which is designed to authenticate the user in the system by scanning fingerprints.
Display
The main advantage of this model is the huge 6.44-inch display. Even with such a diagonal, thanks to the FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080), it provides more than sufficient pixel density necessary to form a clear picture. The display is made using GFF “full lamination” technology, which means there is no gap between the glass, screen and touch panel.
There are a number of advantages in such a solution. The screen fades less at an angle and transmits a brighter, more contrasting image. Thanks to a significant improvement in anti-glare properties and a reduction in reflection, the content on the screen can be read without problems even outdoors, in bright sunlight. And finally, by using GFF technology, the response time of the touch panel is reduced.
The Uhans Max 2 display has a high brightness reserve and wide viewing angles. Using the settings section, the user can access the MiraVision tool, with which they can independently set various image parameters, including the level of color temperature, contrast, etc. d.
Performance, memory
The SoC is used MediaTek MT6750T - an improved version of the MT6750, featuring FullHD support displays, increased frequency of the integrated GPU to 650 MHz, as well as a higher frequency of RAM (833 MHz). The chipset includes a 64-bit processor with 8 Cortex-A53 cores: 4 energy-efficient cores operate at a frequency of 1 GHz, while the frequency of the more productive 4 cores reaches 1.5 GHz. The Mali-T860 MP2 video accelerator is responsible for graphics processing.
Despite the relatively low (by modern standards) test results in benchmarks, the smartphone demonstrates good performance when performing everyday tasks, and copes with FullHD video playback in the codec without problems HEVC/H.265. Considering the capabilities of the hardware platform, calling this phablet a gaming one can only be a stretch. However, at medium graphics settings you can count on an acceptable level of FPS in games like Real Racing 3 and World of Tanks Blitz.
In addition, Uhans Max 2 is equipped with sufficient RAM (4 GB LPDDR3 standard), thanks to which provides the ability to work with several applications simultaneously, without unloading and delays when switching between them. The internal storage capacity is 64 GB. Supports expansion via microSD card (up to 128GB).
Battery, autonomy
The smartphone has a non-removable battery with a capacity of 4300 mAh. This is enough for about a day of battery life, in moderately active operating mode, or for 10 hours of continuous video playback. With less intense loads, you can count on one and a half, or even two days of work. A very good result, considering the size of the screen. The device supports Pump Express 2.0 fast charging technology and comes with a 5V/2A power adapter.
Cameras
Since it is difficult to surprise a modern consumer with a dual main or front camera module, the manufacturer equipped the phablet with four image sensors, two on each side. There are 13-megapixel cameras on the front and rear panels, which are complemented by 2-megapixel auxiliary sensors. Thus, frames with the bokeh effect are obtained both when shooting with the main camera and when creating self-portraits.
To activate background blur, the shooting application provides an SLR mode. The degree of blur is adjusted by moving the slider. The main photo module is complemented by a flash and autofocus, and supports video recording in a resolution of 1920 x 1080, with a frame rate of 30 FPS. Demonstrates average shooting quality, at the level of other devices that belong to the same price category. During the day, frames of acceptable quality are obtained, with a good level of sharpness, contrast and color rendition.
When shooting in low light, the user will encounter problems that are inherent in cameras in any budget smartphone. We are talking about incorrect determination of white balance, the appearance of noise and a significant decrease in detail. On the other hand, finding an inexpensive tablet that can provide higher quality shooting than the Uhans Max 2 phablet is not an easy task.
operating system
Uhans Max 2 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat OS, which now supports multi-window mode, which is most relevant for devices with large displays. This mode provides the ability to split the working area of the screen for simultaneous interaction with two applications. Firmware updates can be carried out using OTA packages that are automatically downloaded when there is an active Internet connection.
Wireless interfaces
The integrated RF module provides support for 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks in virtually any region. Thanks to LTE Cat.6 technology, the user is provided with access to the mobile Internet with high data transfer speeds (up to 300 Mbit/s). The phablet is compatible with Wi-Fi b/g/n (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless networks.
The GPS satellite navigation system is responsible for the functionality of geopositioning services. The navigation module provides quick connection to satellites and high-quality and stable signal reception. The location accuracy is quite high; there are no glitches when recording GPS tracks.
Advantages and disadvantages of Uhans Max 2

Review results
An ordinary smartphone with a diagonal of 5 to 5.5 inches is quite suitable for consuming multimedia content. However, for watching movies, reading e-books, surfing the Internet, playing games and typing, it is much more comfortable to use a device with a larger screen diagonal. It could be a tablet, or its alternative – a phablet, which combines the capabilities of a full-fledged smartphone with a large display, inside a relatively compact case.
The Uhans Max 2 is a pretty interesting option for $159, which can be considered as an affordable alternative to the more expensive Xiaomi Mi Max and Mi Max 2 phablets. In addition, the model is able to compete with the Doogee Y6 Max, which is also equipped with a large screen, but has less memory.
