Instead of a 6th generation flagship, Xiaomi unexpectedly announced a 5-series device called Mi 5C. It should be the first device controlled by the company’s own processor.
The Mi 5C is based on the still unknown, and probably unique to the market, Pinecone Surge S1. All that is known about it: a 28-nanometer process technology and 8 processor cores, the Cortex-A53 architecture standard for modern devices. Of these, 4 operate at a frequency of 2.2 GHz, and the same number operate at a lower frequency of 1.4 GHz.
The specifications also include a rather modern and non-standard Mali-T860MP4 video core and a modern 4G modem with support for all modern communication frequencies, including VoLTE. At the moment, the company has announced synthetic results from AnTuTu. If you believe them, the processor will have performance at the level of the “average” MediaTek Helio P20. Is it so? We will wait for the actual release of the smartphone on the market.
The company also spoke at the presentation about other features of the Xiaomi Mi 5C. Promised 3-4 gigabytes of RAM (unfortunately, only LPDDR3), a single version with 64 gigabytes permanent memory in the form of the flagship eMMC 5.0 and an unusual for Xiaomi JDI screen with an excellent diagonal of 5.15 inches. The dimensions of the smartphone may indicate that the main target audience is girls. The thickness of 7.09 mm is clearly not for men.
The main camera of the Xiaomi Mi 5C is the most advanced Sony - considering that there are no other 12 megapixel options yet. Front - 8 megapixels, will definitely appeal to the weaker sex. Unfortunately, the battery let us down - even less than in Mi5, only 2860 mAh. At the same time, fast charging is supported, which does not correspond to any of the popular standards - 9V/2A.
You can buy Xiaomi Mi 5C now.
The pre-order price for the device is $250
