Lately I've been trying to grow tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouses, but it was not always, and more 3-4 years ago I preferred "not to bother" with the installation of greenhouses and planted cucumber seedlings in open ground.
Comparing the growth of culture in the greenhouse and garden conditions, I came to the conclusion that greenhouse - not a panacea for all ills and negative factors, example - one of the frequent "cucumber" problems - rolling of leaves, observed in seedlings, planted in the ground, not at all less than the hothouse counterparts. How to deal with this common problem?
What if twisted leaves of cucumber
All who come to me for advice and friendly with a similar question, I recommend first of all to try to determine the cause of the problem. In most cases, the leaves are deformed because of violations of irrigation conditions, and this problem can be solved quite easy, merely observing the irrigation mode in which the soil under humidification plants will reach at least 10 cm.
However, a more serious and intractable factors can affect other than the banal lack of water on the leaves curl.
Lack of nitrogen, potassium, or other nutrients in the soil
In the case of nitrogen deficiency leaves begin to curl inward, whereas when they lack potassium wrapped up. To make up the nitrogen in the soil reserves urea is perfect, and if not enough potassium - should be diluted 3 tablespoons potassium salt in a bucket of water to give a solution and pour each bush.
vermin
With regard to the attack by pests, the presence of spider mites, for example, can be set visually, carefully inspecting the lower surface of the leaf. To deal with it better not to resort to the "national" means, and to consult a well-established drugs, which will solve the problem much faster.
powdery mildew
In past years, I have repeatedly faced with the defeat of cucumber powdery mildew in their area.
The solution to this problem could be found immediately, because the cause of this dew was the fact that cucumbers are constantly watered almost ice-cold water from the wells, and this led to the development of "dew". Furthermore, not too good impact exerted and periodic temperature changes from heat until almost frost (especially South Kazakhstan climate).
root rot
With root rot I myself never, fortunately, did not face, but heard from a friend that she was able to successfully overcome the attack.
As it turned out, to prevent the development of root rot it was necessary before planting the seedlings shed the soil solution of potassium permanganate.
It also happens that the affected is not all landings, but only a few bushes. If the objective reasons that can not be installed, the case is likely to viral infected plants. In this case, I prefer to play it safe, and delete the affected bushes from landing, preventing the spread of the virus.
