In September this year, I went for the third time on the Finnlines ferry from Finland to Germany.
Each time, they find themselves on the ferry, I never cease to marvel at the fact that the man was able to create such a huge structure that can swim in the sea.
cargo-passenger ferries Finnlines depart from Helsinki every day at 17:00 and arrive in the German city of Lübeck (Travemünde port) at 21:30 the next day. Return ferry leaves at 3:00 and arrives at 9:00 am the next day.
Ferry - is a comfortable way to get to the center of Europe with the car, avoiding the long road, a length of almost 1,500 km. Cars on the steam entering the ramp and placed on one of the two decks.
Decks, floors ferry twelve. At the lower three double decks (2, 3, 5) are arranged trucks. On the open deck of the seventh - trailer trucks on the closed part of the seventh and eighth deck - cars.
Passenger cabin 201 is located on the deck 8 and 9. 10 deck - kitchen and crew quarters. 11 Deck - public spaces (restaurant, café, bar, shop and more), 12 open deck helipad and sunbeds.
Ferry weighs 9300 tons, its length is 219 meters, with a total length of parking spaces - 4500 m (think about it, four and a half kilometers!). It placed 276 trailers, 670 cars and 500 passengers.
Maximum speed ferry - 25 knots (46.3 km / h). Four diesel engine with a capacity of 48 000 kW (48 million watts!), Rotate the two screws and two generators, which feed all the ferry system.
When I photographed screen state engine speed was 20 knots, the total power screw 18 MW, they are rotated at a speed of 149 revolutions per minute.

But not all passengers traveling with a car. You can buy a separate cabin or even a place in the cabin (in this case, there is a chance that no one else has sat down in the cabin) or a seat.
Brunch (breakfast and lunch) and dinner at the restaurant is included in the high-class cabins or can be purchased separately (in advance is almost half the price). Access to the Internet (on the ferry operates Wi-fi Internet via satellite) is also becoming considerably cheaper if you buy it in advance.
For those who have never traveled on the ferry, usually it seems that almost 30-hour trip can be tedious and even heavy, but those who have already tried this form of transport, I know that this journey quite tedious and always want to repeat what I did with great pleasure.
