This week I visited the exhibition Interlight Russia, Conference LED Forum and Award Ceremony Golden Photon. I'll tell you about the most interesting, it was possible to see and hear.
The most interesting thing was on the LED forum, because there is talk about future developments and the future.
The efficiency of white LEDs has almost reached the physical limit (around 200 lumens per Watt) and developers are thinking about how to reduce the size of the LEDs (as well as make them cheaper), not reducing power. One way - Cascading LEDs, wherein several pn-junctions emitting light, arranged one above the other.
Modern white LEDs are small and bright, there are no major problems to collect such LEDs in a matrix and to make it independent control of each cell. And if you put in front of such a matrix object that has a lighting projector, which can arbitrarily change the shape of the light spot. Surely these projectors will be used in stage lighting, and now they are developed based on smart car lights that will illuminate each time only what you need, without dazzling oncoming vehicles and drivers pedestrians.

In addition to LG, they began producing subsidiary of Philips. Modern OLED-panel gives to 300 lm at an efficiency of 75 lm / W and a service life of 30 thousand hours. If you reduce the current, the same panel provides 100 lm, and the efficiency is increased up to 85 lm / W, and the service life of up to 100,000 hours. Such a panel size of 120x120 mm and a thickness of 1.4 mm is now worth $ 62. I hope that in five years the price of OLED-panels will fall twenty times.
Another technology of the future - Sunlike (ammo1.livejournal.com/926025.html). It LEDs "sun" of the spectrum based on violet LEDs and three-component phosphor (in conventional white LED phosphor used duhkomponentny and crystal blue glow). Sunlike LEDs have been produced for more than two years, there were Chinese counterparts. Prices began to decline, but still Sunlike much more expensive than conventional LEDs. Lights on Sanlaykah still produces only Belarusian craftsman and a small Korean company, and these LED lamps to the more and more.
On Sunlike session was shown a slide of the index TM30 color. Perhaps it will be of interest to many.
According to this year's show it was clearly seen that the progress in the LED industry has slowed. Anything new in comparison with the last year I have not seen. Is that a plurality of LED chandeliers of unusual design.
In the Chinese pavilion boasted not technology, and prices. 9-watt LED light bulbs offer already at $ 0.28, which is about 18 rubles, cheaper bulbs. About the quality and durability is better not to think. :)
The evening of September 11 the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Gold Award Photon. Awards received both realized lighting projects, and separate light sources. Unfortunately, in the category "Best LED lamp" was filed only one application.
