I had an idea how to make a modern home theater with a decent six-channel sound for very little money.
People are actively getting rid of home theater "all in one", bought at the peak of their popularity a few years ago. In Moscow Avito almost 350 ads home theater up to 3000 rubles (many of them were bought at 5-10 times more expensive).
More than half of these cinemas is now completely useless - they are able to reproduce multi-channel sound from the DVD only. But half have a digital input - most optical, and sometimes more, and coaxial.
This input can be connected modern sources - TV, cable or satellite set-top box, media player, Android-boxing.
multi-channel audio standards for DVD is Dolby Digital (DD), DTS, PCM. These formats are little old theater should definitely decode.
Most films today are sound AC3 and my receiver Yamaha RX-V861, also supports DD and DTS, AC3 no problem lays on six channels. I hope that the Home Cinema will successfully decode the sound of modern films.
There are movies with sound DTS-HD, AAC and E-AC3, which is likely to be decoded on the old home theater systems will not, but such films a bit.
Now actively advertise the soundbar. Of course, it is more convenient and aesthetic system with five speakers, a subwoofer and a separate unit from the audio processor and amplifier, but by the sound much worse, and it does not contrive to the location of speakers and digital processing, it is the spatial pattern on a system with five spaced columns will be better, and decent bass still possible only from the soundbar with separate large subwoofer.
In general, if a little old home theater decode the sound of modern films, it can be a great and very inexpensive solution to the problem of good multi-channel audio for a movie. I wonder anyone tried?
P.S. Yesterday conducted an experiment to connect my new TV Samsung 40MU6400 (ammo1.livejournal.com/991642.html) To the receiver. Sound it always appears in the optical output and HDMI3, supporting the conclusion of the return sound ARC protocol (old receiver about the protocol and not heard, but it works). The volume level of the speakers to a digital audio output does not affect the course. The majority of stereo sound sources, but the receiver perfectly distinguishes it from the center channel. Alas, there is no 5.1 sound in movies on Megogo (even by subscription). The free movies on IVI sound is also only stereo (5.1 promises by subscription). But the sound is 5.1 is on Youtube (usually written in such rollers 5.1 in the header). Besides sound 5.1 have movies, TV shows that c on a network computer via Samsung PC Share Manager.
