Almost all of the stabilizers on the market fall into one of two types: step (relay or solid-state switches are connected load to one of several autotransformer windings) and electromechanical (current collector is moved through the winding of the autotransformer via motor). All of these types of stabilizers output voltage depends on the input and, if connected through a conventional stabilizer incandescent bulbs, the brightness of the light will "twitch" when the input voltage jumps, despite the presence of stabilizer.

The Russian company Stihl produces unique stabilizers working on a different principle. This double conversion stabilizers: first supply voltage is rectified, and then a constant voltage by the inverter is converted to sinusoidal alternating voltage, the level of which does not depend on the input voltage, in addition to the output basically can not get no interference from the network.

According to the instructions, the stabilizer has an efficiency of 96%, THD linear load 1.5%. At the same time it is "improver" power factor - regardless of the power factor (power factor) load, its power factor for the power line is always 0.99.

To check the operation of the stabilizer I connected it to the exit Latro - laboratory autotransformer allows you to change the alternating voltage over a wide range gradually (my article about him). The voltage at the input and output of the stabilizer is controlled, and simultaneously the digital pointer device (for deflection voltage swing graphically seen). To the output of the stabilizer is connected incandescent lamp.


The stabilizer operates with an input voltage 90-310 V. At any changes of the input voltage in this range (both smooth and jumps) the output voltage does not change completely. voltmeter needle is, rooted to the spot, the lamp brightness does not change.

For example, at the entrance of the stabilizer 95 B, and the output 230.2 B.


The output voltage changes a little, but it does not depend on the input voltage, and on the processes in the stabilizer. Manufacturer play safe and points in the specifications stabilization accuracy ± 2% (and in output voltage is 220 V ± 4.4 V), in fact deviates from the nominal voltage is not more than 0.6 V (±0.3%).

If the input voltage is outside the stabilization regulator disconnects the load and it comes on one of the indicators Ui <90V or Ui> 310 V.


After returning input voltage limits, stabilizer activated again.

Changes in input voltage from its shape does not change. When connecting and disconnecting the reactive load sometimes distorted sine wave of a second (and shows the short pulses). it was not possible to fix the interference in the form of screenshots.

The voltage at the output of the stabilizer is regulated only by the parameters in the firmware. Currently available stabilizers with an output voltage of 220 V, and my stabilizer 230 V was made in one piece. Apparently, Calm - the world's only manufacturer of domestic inverter stabilizers. Perhaps something similar is for professional use, but other domestic regulators, operating on this principle, I could not find.

Calm stabilizers are designed and manufactured in the Russian factory in Tula.
