January 11, 2017 off broadcasting in FM-band started in Norway. Soon, many owners of radios and radio receivers will be able to hear only noise in the air.

It proposed to replace the digital radio DAB +.

Norway became the first country that had refused from analog broadcasting to digital.

DAB / DAB + can work in two bands: Band III (174-240 MHz) and L band (1,452-1,492 GHz). Each band is divided into channels (eg for Band III: with 5A - 174.928 MHz 13F - 239.200 MHz) in each channel may be up to 20 stations.

DAB + using MPEG-4 High Efficiency AAC v2 profile (HE-AAC v2) codec. In current 40 kbps codec this provides the same sound quality as MP3 128 kbps.

Now broadcasting in DAB + has performed in more than 40 countries. Most manufacturers have models with radios support DAB +.

In Russia, it was planned to introduce digital broadcasting across the country back in 2010, but this did not happen. First, they wanted to broadcast in DAB, then in for DRM, now in DAB +. In 2015 were tested broadcasting a DAB + Ostankinskaya tower.

The Russian analogue television plan to completely disable July 1, 2018. She currently works at the same time analogue and digital TV in the DVB-T2 standard ( http://ammo1.livejournal.com/132576.html, http://ammo1.livejournal.com/334379.html, http://ammo1.livejournal.com/582351.html).

Fortunately, digital TV in Russia for free, but in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia turned off analog TV, digital and pay only.

As for the fate of broadcasting in Russia, yet nothing is known. Certain plans for the introduction of digital broadcasting yet, accordingly plans to shut down analog broadcasting in FM-band either.
