Many users have installed in your home a new energy efficient (LED) lamp, surprised to discover that it slightly flickers even in a disconnected state. This is not quite the usual and absolutely incomprehensible effect immediately suggests a failure of the purchased product or wiring.

Important! However, in most cases there is no reason for concern - enough to replace the LED sample of conventional incandescent lamps, then the flicker immediately disappears.

This suggests that the strange flashing after turning off the lighting characteristic only for LED lamps (pictured below).

Reasons flickering lamp

The main reasons for causing flickering of the lighting device in the OFF state, are:

  • The presence in the circuit breaker switching control lights, built-in indicator (LED or neon bulbs).
  • Poor quality of purchased products, which according to the manufacturer should not be flashing.
  • Bad wiring in the flat state and cause parasitic leakage currents.

According to the schematic, used in modern switches with illumination used in them LED with a current limiting resistor connected between the input and the output terminal of the switching instrument. I.e. its condition at any supply voltage of 220 volts, the limited resistance is supplied to the lighting element (photo below).

The LED lamp driver has a capacitor which is charged during the flow of small currents in the lighting circuit, which leads to the effect of flicker.

The value (branded) product lighting capacitor is increased so that the frequency of blinks for the human eye is almost unnoticeable.

The influence of the state of the wiring on this effect can be explained very simply: a violation of the wire insulation, as well as the accumulated moisture and dust lead to the emergence of leaks to the ground by the lamp power supply circuit. For this reason, it flashes with a frequency of charging the capacitor placed in the driver.

Address the causes blinking

To exit the position you can take a variety of actions, which vary depending on the user's preference. The most crucial and easiest option - to dismantle all the illumination element from the breaker enclosure.

This will require:

  • "Remove" Power to the apartment (to disable automatic opening).
  • Removed by a screwdriver with thin tip first key and then a decorative frame switch.
  • Then it will be possible to weaken the attachment of the supply pins and wires in the direction of the exhaust tube.
  • And finally - fully dismantle the LED with a resistor with the fixture.

Those who are not willing to part with the benefits of night illumination is only one piece of advice you can give - Buy high-quality LED lamps, modified with the deletion of the flashing effect. Naturally, it will cost a bit more expensive, but you have to pay for any fun!

Much harder to solve the problem in the case when, after taking all the above measures, the lamp still continues flashing. The only thing that may be a reason for this - worn and untidy wiring.

If successive attempts to eliminate flashing by all means nor to no avail - it most likely cause is this factor. In some cases, said the situation becomes the impetus for the complete replacement of the old aluminum wiring on the new cable with copper conductors.
