In a previous article I wrote that is undesirable to put in compost to avoid future problems with pests and diseases. In this article I want to tell you that it is best to send in a compost pit.
1. Plants without roots
The use of plants with roots in compost is undesirable, as the presence of the root system allows for the possibility of germination and further propagation. To a greater extent this applies to weeds and quickly propagated plants. Compost environment gives a lot of micronutrients, which favorably affects the germination.
2. Plants without flowers and seed bags
Plants with flowers and seed bags are also not desirable to send to the compost pit. Availability of seeds makes it possible to apply not only in the compost pit, but also throughout the site.
Best of all, when the composting plants are not root and seeds. In the case of weeds, this rule is mandatory.
3. Chips and sawdust
Small pieces of natural wood and bark are an excellent drainage. In addition, they are well rot and do not stay long in the compost.
Fresh sawdust, too, will be a good addition. If you sprinkle them on top of a thick layer, they will keep warm and create an excellent environment for the formation and decay of compost.
4. Tops of carrots and beets
Unlike cucumber and tomato leaves, carrot tops and beet not contain pores blight and can be used as compost.
5. egg shells
Small and medium crushed egg shells serve as an excellent compost and saturate the soil next to many of the necessary trace elements plants. Do not use too large shells as long as they can decompose.
6. mushrooms
All edible mushrooms (Even a little wormy and rotten) will serve as the perfect complement to the contents of the compost pit. No need to fear that they may infect than land or plants. Common diseases with horticultural crops mushrooms have not.
7. full paper
Natural Paper (without ink) It will be an excellent source of cellulose.
Do not use old newspapers and magazines. These paint contains many harmful substances.
8. Dry leaves
Dry leaves of birch, aspen and other trees growing on the site, will be a wonderful compost. They can be collected together with thin dry twigs.
Do not use dry leaves from under the apple trees, they can become a source of fungal diseases.
