Super simple recipe for self-hardening "plastic"

  • Dec 28, 2019

Hello friends!

I want to share with you a recipe for self-hardening "plastic", which can be made of 3 low-cost components. I have already done this story, but there was no description, and video only. Many readers have complained that they can not see the video and asked to write a text version.

"Plastic" is obtained after drying is very strong and will not crack when drying. A bit like a polymer clay or "cold porcelain".

And now everything in order and in more detail.

For the manufacture of "plastic" I used:

· The polymer cement "Titan", can be a different company;

· Any starch (potato or corn);

· Any vegetable oil;

The cost of 1 kg of finished weight in me coming out, about 200-250 rubles. Perhaps you will be a little more expensive, but not much. And the cheapest polymer clay have cost about 500 rubles per 500 grams.

Dries "plastic" for 1-3 days or more, depending on the thickness of the product. If you want to do something with a very large bed, it is better not to impose a lot of a time, and layers. Dries in the air itself, is not necessarily dry in the oven.

I used a polymer adhesive "Titan", it is with different labels, but actually it does not change. You can apply the glue of other companies, the main thing that it was a polymer. On this adhesive foam is often adhered to the ceiling tiles.

Silent about the pros and cons of "plastic":

· It is very cheap at cost;

· Very strong when dry;

• Do not crack on drying;

· Very easy to work with him;

· You can cook for 10 minutes;

· Easily processed after drying;

· Afraid of the water;

· All can not be stored fresh weight;

· It stinks when mixing.

It should be kneaded in small portions, because the mass is not stored and must be used for 40-60 minutes, or starts zavetrivatsya and dry. If you do not have time to work out, and began to dry, you can add a little oil and extend the life of "plastic".

Step 1.

Poured a little starch, 2-3 tablespoons on the "eye" put a little glue. Proportions as there is no such.

Step 2.

I began to knead the dough. I did not use gloves, but it is better to put them on, that would not get their hands dirty. Knead until needed, until the dough no longer stick to hands. For not a lot of adding starch if necessary.

Step 3.

When the mass involved, keep it in a plastic bag for 5 minutes. This is to ensure that the starch would be well saturated with glue.

Step 4.

After 5 minutes, we obtain the weight of the package, again stirred well. Weight is not yet ready for use, it is quite tough and a bit brittle.

Add to the dough a little vegetable oil. Too roughly, without proportions. And mixed well.

Oil will give flexibility and softness. Do not be afraid, if you add a lot of oil, and it has turned too soft dough mass just lie down and become more solid.

Step 5.

Now you can use "plastic". I sample molded into Molds of different thicknesses and shapes.

I put everything on a piece of paper and left to dry.

Subtle details and 3 mm dry for 24 hours and the thicker 8-10 mm dried up a little over 2 days.

Plastic turns out very strong. It does not shrink when dry. It can sharpen, cut, drilled. It can be painted any color dried parts, as well as add color when mixing mass.

You can stick straight in raw form on the PVA glue, or the same polymer adhesive. Oddly enough, this oil is not a hindrance. After drying of the oil is not a trace remains.

The material sinks in water and it is afraid. After lying in the water for a while it becomes soft and brittle. When heated over the fire, too, softened, it becomes pliable and slightly bent. After cooling again hardens.

This "plastic" is ideal for the manufacture of decorative stucco for handicrafts. Here is a small example of how we used - this is the minimum application of the "plastic".

In general, many times already prepared for this recipe and always get a great "plastic", which is very convenient to operate.
