A fence made of profiled sheet undoubtedly has a lot of advantages. That is why it is so popular. However, this type of fencing has a number of disadvantages. Suppliers prefer not to talk about cons, but they are.
A fence made of a profiled sheet has the following disadvantages:
1. It is unlikely to protect against intruders. This material can be easily cut with metal scissors. In addition, the profiled sheet is elementary dismantled, you just need to unscrew the screws.
2. In places far from the city, where few people walk, such fences are often dismantled.
The possible theft of the profiled sheet cannot be completely prevented. It is possible to complicate the dismantling of the fence a little; you can increase the time spent by the attacker on dismantling it. There is a chance that thieves will not encroach on the fence if they have to spend a lot of energy on it.
There are a number of measures that, in general, if they do not interfere, then will significantly complicate theft:
- Fasten all sheets with rivets or take the final U-shaped bar.
- Bend the screws protruding from the material. Here you need to remember that next to the head the screws are very fragile. Even if welded or bent, it can easily break off.
- Use self-tapping screws with a wide head, you can additionally cover the slots with cold welding.
- Also furniture bolts with a round head are suitable for work. Screw them onto the sheet, bend the end of the bolt or weld the nut to death.
- Thieves are unlikely to encroach on material that has lost its presentation. You can do it yourself. Make through holes in the sheets, draw or write something on the fence.
3. Profiled sheets are a very delicate material, unable to resist mechanical stress. It often gets dents. For example, if any large equipment was working next to the fence, its appearance is likely to suffer.
If you take a profiled sheet of 0.5 mm thickness, you can reduce the risk of dents. There are certain types of material with special stiffening ribs. With their help, the fence will receive additional strength.
4. Professional sheet can not resist strong wind. If you build a fence where real hurricanes often blow, then the material will be subject to high stress. With insufficient fixing of the support pillars, the structure will simply warp. And if the profiled sheet is too thin, then the strong wind will either bend it or tear it out altogether.
5. In places of cuts or where the covering of the profiled sheet has been damaged, rust often forms. The material should be installed with great care to avoid such an unpleasant moment.
It is not recommended to cut sheets with a grinder. After cutting, it is advisable to walk through the material with special tools. A paint for metal or a primer that resists corrosion will do.
6. Better to buy quality material right awayso as not to remodel the fence in the future, spending money and time on it.
It is worth noting that you can find flaws in absolutely any fence. The main thing is to know about all the nuances before direct installation. Then there is a chance to minimize losses or even prevent them completely.
