Many residents of private houses faced a problem when the water in the water pipes froze and turned into ice. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to unfreeze the communications laid underground. Few would agree to dig petrified earth in the cold.
I want to share with you several ways to help you defrost the ice plug.
When communications passing along the street are poorly insulated or improperly installed, they can freeze. If the pipes are in the ground, the situation is aggravated.
You can wait until summer to dig up pipes and lay them at a greater depth, where the ground does not freeze. To be sure, they can still be insulated with empty plastic bottles that need to be laid around the communications.
- 1. If there is no time to wait for warming, you can light a fire at the place where the pipes pass. Then the earth will warm up and the pipes will defrost.
- 2. I suggest you make a saline solution. Pour it into the pipe to dissolve the ice plug. Please note that it will take a long time to fix the problem - at least several hours.
- 3. You can try to get rid of the cork with hot water. Unscrew the pipe in the house, pour boiling water into it and wait. Warn, the method may not work. And it will take a lot of time to defrost.
- 4. You can also try pouring a few liters of water into a gas cylinder. Then, using a soldering iron, heat the cylinder from below. Find a thin tube, one end of which is inserted into the bottle, and the other into the plastic tube. This will defrost the ice plug with hot steam.
- 5. There is a similar simpler option. You will need a steam cleaner for it. You need to lengthen the spout and push it into the pipe. Hot steam will remove the ice plug in a few minutes.
I know that some people use an autoclave to solve the problem. I have tried defrosting pipes with a pressure cooker. In place of the valve, a hose was attached, the other end of which was pushed into the pipe. I managed to remove the plug in about 15 minutes.
